Re: Announcement is here: It's Mediacom
I'll keep the online subscription because it will be one COLD DAY in hell before I ever go back to MediaSUCK again. Hopefully it will eventually go to HD and be offered by DISH or DirecTV.

Edit: And if you would rather watch it on a TV screen than your computer screen, get an HDMI cable to hook it up to your TV. You don't even need to subscribe for the whole year. If money is truly an issue for some, you could have subscribed to Cyclones.tv for 1 month ($10) at the beginning of November & seen almost every ISU non-con hoops game. I'm all for people signing up for the annual subscription as it supports the AD, but if your goal is just to watch the games you can do it at an extremely reasonable cost.

wow not in HD? Can't they have an HD version?
I'd rather just keep streaming than watch in standard def.

Re: Announcement is here: It's Mediacom
I've said for years that I begrudgingly stick with Mediacom as I believe there is a value is supporting them as they have a local presence unlike the Dish or DirectTV. The satillite companies simply do not have the motivation to look into local broadcasting options like a local cable company does. They could care less or probably don't even know anything about ISU sports. Mediacom already produced and picked up some games over the years that no one else would. Also, they seem to always pay for sponsorship on ISU scoreboards.
As someone else stated, finally we are seeing some of the benefits for our stubborn loyality paying off.

Lots of smaller schools, but some bigger name ones too:
-Arkansas
-Colorado
-Duke
-LSU
-Florida
-Nebraska
-A&M
-Oregon
I don't know what the usage is referring too exactly, but that's a pretty good list to be near the top of I know Florida has all of their third teir games on Sunshine network and I am sure Duke doesn't have a problem getting their games on TV so not sure how applicable it is...

So when does JP petition the B12 to show high school games on cyclone.tv and the Cyclone Mediacom channel? I see a recruiting tool in our future. A world without yoga pants and Planter's cheese balls, is a world I no longer want to live in. -

Yea, outside of aTm Florida and LSU are any of the schools listed allowed to offer anything close to their 3rd tier broadcast rights?

Re: Announcement is here: It's Mediacom
The Mediacom VP was just on KXNO. No HD this first year, but the hope, and plan is to eventually have everything in the channel in HD.
He also said they estimate this will reach about 82 percent of the homes in Iowa. That's pretty good exposure, imo. Certainly better than ISU sports has now.

Re: Announcement is here: It's Mediacom
I am a little surprised how some of you view this. This is a good thing for us. It may not be a huge step forward but it is a step in the right direction. JP is turning our 3rd tier rights into a valuable property. That would not have been the case 5 years ago or 1 year ago.
Think about it... We are one of 3 schools that has a dedicated channel exclusively to themselves. Is it perfect? No. But can Iowa fans or Nebraska fans or any other midwest team turn on a channel and get their fix? Some of the time, yes, but all the time??

Re: Announcement is here: It's Mediacom
For now the lack of HD will be a bummer, but I'll wait until it's actually on it's own channel (Not MC22) before I pass judgement. If they keep it a good quality feed I think that it'll be ok on SD for now. Any way you look at it this is really a good thing. Just more options available.

Re: Announcement is here: It's Mediacom
Would be cool if it was free online for people with just Mediacom Internet like ESPN360 is. I save money and get better channels by just having Internet through them and then Direct TV.

He said Mediacom is available to 82% of the homes in Iowa. No where near 82% of homes have mediacom.
