Cyclones.tv Thought
While I'm a Cyclones.tv subscriber and have been happy with the service overall so far, for the most part, I've also been thinking of ideas for them to improve their service quality and make it more legit and professional. Again, while I'm satisfied so far, there are things that still seem relatively amateur and low-budget. Also, with the dedicated Mediacom channel coming on-line soon, I fee like now is the time to take a few baby steps in the right direction.
With that said, my recommendation is that they create some type of Cyclones.tv studio set as the next improvement, which can be used for interviews and commentary. Yes, I know this will require us forking out some cash for it, but I feel like any legit sports channel has one and so should we. Heck, even the Univeristy of Iowa has one that I've seen they use for the Fran Show (regarless of whether you like the looks of their set or not) and they don't even have their own network. What is everyone else's thoughts on my idea? Also, does anyone have any other good ideas too?

Hey we could use our ABC studio. Oh wait, thanks Jischke you moron.

Re: Cyclones.tv Thought
Other than coaches' shows, when would a set be used?
They'd have to develop a "studio show" of some type (pregame, halftime, postgame, weekly highlights) to make having a set worthwhile.
Then there's the matter of where it could even be constructed.

Re: Cyclones.tv Thought
They could use it with for the Olympic sports spotlight. They could use it for many general interviews, or for interviews with any of the "classics" type productions. There is the posibility for maybe some type of halftime show in the future for cyclones.tv exclusive stuff in it. Shoot, I think the question is more what can't you use it for? Just take a stroll through the Cyclones.tv content and the stuff that it could be used for is probably 75% of the content IMO. Shoot, take a look at more intense and larger-scale networks like ESPN, the LHN, or even the Big 12 network regional network, and what isn't done in the studio to some extent?

Haha, I did just noticed I called the LHN a larger scale network. Maybe I should have termed theirs as simply larger-budget, not necessarily larger-scaled. Heck, I think it has been said that once the Cyclones.tv Medicom channel is released, it will be in more households than the LHN.

From what I've heard, most of the vacated space has already been allocated/earmarked.

Couldn't they use the Pete Taylor Media Room? Make it more like a set, but still make it usable for press conferences?

From what I've heard, most of the vacated space has already been allocated/earmarked. That might be true, but do we know what that space has been allocated too? I know the money is in the budget for a remodel of that building this year. The space use allocation right now might be temporary.

Re: Cyclones.tv Thought
In order to add content, I wouldn't mind if Cyclones.tv expanded into some of the more general University stuff too. Some ideas would be like broadcasting the Veisha parade, homecoming festivities, tours of new campus facilities.... etc. I would like this stuff.

First things first, fix the audio so it isnt distorting all over the place.

Re: Cyclones.tv Thought
The main thing that I like it for are the game replays and the press conferences. Anything else is just (welcomed) extra.
Honestly, cyclones.tv is the best $99, I spend for Iowa State athletics.
