I have no issue with Eve 6. I just think it's funny that Saliva was "too hardcore."

I really like Eve 6, they have some good songs. Some of them are slow songs (I still like them), but they also have plenty of high energy (as another fanatic put it) songs to listen to.

I really liked the Saliva concert last year, but I was partial to the Chris Cagle concert. He is a very good entertainer.

Re: Veishea books Eve 6 for concert. The 90s called, they want their crappy band bac

    Don't worry-

If Eve 6 is booked Friday night then a few equally as big but probably bigger bands will be in the lineup for Saturday.

Last year we shelled out about $80,000 on Saliva, Mike Jones, Chris Cagle, and Story of the Year. I thought all of the concerts except Mike Jones were badass and totally worth the $ and effort put in.

It is totally unrealistic to book a top notch band considering the committee is put together in the fall and most big concerts are booked over a year out.

Considering what VEISHEA was my freshman year (2003) I can't complain and have to applaud the efforts of those on this years committee. I'm sure it will turn out a success.

    Peace

Re: Veishea books Eve 6 for concert. The 90s called, they want their crappy band bac

Personally, I think it would be better if they had some tribute bands of some kind. It'd be a lot cheaper, and it's going to be music that everyone knows and most people like. During the Mike Jones fiasco last year, I went to a concert over by UDCC. They were playing some of their original songs, but they were mostly playing classic rock. It was really good, but there was hardly anyone there.

How about bringing in bands that will help prevent any more football decommits.

Re: Veishea books Eve 6 for concert. The 90s called, they want their crappy band bac

Actually a very small slice of VEISHEA is funded by student fees and especially not the entertainment part. I could go on a rant about why it SHOULD be funded more by students but I won't. Why GSB funds large %'s of student groups budgets that are a tiny fraction of the overall student population and funds less than 5% of VEISHEA's budget is beyond me. Roughly $20,000 to $30,000. What other event or Student Org. gets more student involvement? There might be a few but not many.

The funding for the last 3 years (post-riot), which is far more than was given in the past comes from an endowment specifically for VEISHEA and events like it. This endowment is from outside sources and not student fees.

That was pretty funny. It was also nice to have a guy with 2-3 Iowans in his band.

I really don't see the point in defending Eve 6 on this one. These guys sucked when they were actually a popular band. Why not get some up and comers that would probably charge less and be a fresher gig? Man, I forgot how bad these guys are. Flame on
