Wow, ISU daily op-ed slams JP

LETTER: Pollard, don't turn against students - Opinion

I was kind of suprised when I read that. Maybe it is just my non student glasses clouding my vision. But it is the students who do not seem to be holding up their end of the deal.

There were a number of back-handed slaps in that one. Didn't care for it.

That's the dumbest reponse imaginable.

Let me know when you wash the dollar signs off your forehead and brush the weasel off your teeth.
This isn't about money. The Athletic Department has already been paid for all of these tickets. They aren't losing money. It's about fan support.

This person doesn't even understand what the discussion is about.

Another example that even idiots can get a letter published in the Daily.

I'm with you. I think the students construed the original article wrong after reading this one and the one yesterday.
He said he may need to consider taking away some of the student seats in the balcony and open them up to the public.
If they are not being used, there's no point in having them available.
He's not moving the student section to the upper deck or anything.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Copying part of my post from the recent student thread...

It's not like we're winning a lot of games to drive attendance.

In a perfect world - we'd win 'em all and the seats would be filled. In a quasi-perfect world - we'd all be the die-hard fan variety and show up whether we're 20-0 or 0-20. That's not the case.

We have plenty of die-hards and that's excellent that we do. There is also the "win and I'll come" crowd and while not as desired - they are needed.

Simply put, when we start winning - people will show up. It's a "sad" truth that can't be denied.

And the students are not the only ones to "blame" for not filling the seats and anyone thinking differently is abusing an illegal drug.

The student thing does need addressed and I feel confident it will be. Yet we should not throw rocks in glass houses when the other seats are empty as well.

What a joke, if I am not mistaken there was a part in the original article where JP said it was not about the money. He just did not want to lose those seats for other fans who maybe wanted a slightly better seat. These letters are more than likely coming from students who have gone to maybe 3 or 4 games but bought the season tickets and dont really understand how the gaping whole up top look to everyone.

Wonder if I could get in the Daily if I wrote a letter titled "To all you Idiots that Don't Get It"

I really wish the Daily would publish the letters of people who are knowledgeable about what they are ranting about. Last I checked, Cy is not going anywhere; didn't we have that thread a while back?

Go for it Gordyo5, it'd be a much better read than today's.
