Ok, so you all know I am huge Dan McCarney fan, and I will say football is better now than then. We were actually better at the end of the season than the beginning, and I have not seen that in an ISU team, well EVER. And I have been going to games for 30 years.
Just curious how you picked 2004 football to compare McCarney to Chizik's first season...why not, oh say 2003 when we went 2-10 and it was FAR from McCarney's first year?
That being said, I am in no means questioning your fanhood, you seem to be a big supporter of many Cyclone athletic teams, and I definitely respect that. Just wondering how you arrived at your choice of which McCarney year to compare...
Jamie Pollard is by far the greatest marketer we have ever had as an AD.
Is he is great at picking head coaches? Maybe.
I'm happy with Jamie Pollard and our coaching staff
We need JP for many more years.
My old college gal friend certainly experienced the garbage mouth of LE as she ran into him a bit. She could not stand his gutter mouth in her letter to the college paper. So I can believe the language issue. It did get the player's attention.
Health of an athletic department is very different than wins and losses on the field/court/mat/whathaveyou. I think Pollard has done a great job of getting the department healthy. We were winning before, but I really don't think our athletic department was healthy under BVD.
I think Iowa is a pretty good example of that. Who's football program would you rather have right now? Even though Iowa was bowl-eligible and had twice as many wins as us, I don't think that's a very healthy football program. I always had the same feeling about Mac's teams (though for very different reasons). I'd take our situation in a heartbeat over our situation under BVD.
I always wondered why Tinsley, with the ball & 1-point lead with 30-seconds vs Hampton, took a 12-foot shot instead of pulling up and dribbling out the clock.
Seriously, if JT shaved points, and LE is drunk in a bar telling everybody in earshot, then the AD had every reason to can his butt, and I hope for the sake of our history, everyone can end the LE idol-worship and never bring him back for a reunion half-time show.
I know of one LE story that occurred after we took a 30-point pounding at TX, the year of our second B12 title, and would make the Mizzou coed story seem like a Sunday church brunch.
Tell us more.
Yeah I have a personal LE story that isn't too good. I like GMac a lot better, but he has to put some wins on the board.
