Pre Jamie Pollard versus Now

Very frustrating when people expect us to look different game to game in the season. You might make small changes, but our glaring weaknesses wont change until personel does.

Coach Mac will only begin to succeed when we can put together an offense. He teaches defensive and rebounding skills perfectly.

Just not sure if his offense will do to well against the big 12. Time will tell.

Just to bring up a hypothetical question for everyone, how do you think the Missouri/LE party situation would have played out under Pollard as opposed to BVDV?

That's an excellent question! I guess it depends on whether or not Pollard likes to party. BVDV...not so much.

I think it really just depends on what BVDV knew and when he knew it. It's hard to say what Pollard would have done, but I suspect it would have been much less of a black eye to the university than it ended up being, if for no other reason than Jamie is a way better marketer and "spin master".

I think JP would have been more proactive about taking care of the problem sooner. He probably would have forced LE to seek some help for his drinking problem. The incident perhaps would have never happened.

That being said, LE was extremely strong willed(no kidding:biglaugh:), and I have feeling he JP would have butted heads just as much as BVD. If everything had gone down the same, I think JP would have let him go too.

And there are also hundreds of other stories you could tell you about Larry Eustachy visiting sick children and being an excellent role model for our university. Smearing him in an Iowa State forum by our own fans quoting third hand stories from a bar doesn't exactly make me comfortable and proud to be an Iowa State grad to tell you the truth.

Exactly. The point shaving is a big rumor that I believe to be true (heard from too many that it is true). Too many events happened in that game that Tinsley normally wouldn't do.

I didn't smear anyone - I actually typed as my husband dictated the story, so it was told by someone who was there. That is actually first-hand, as he then came over and checked the story for accuracy.

I think he was/is a great coach, and did some great things, but I think it would be pretty tough to deny that alcohol can make you do some stupid things. When you are one of the two or three most visible people at a university, that might not be something that goes unnoticed, right?

My story isn't third hand. It happened to me and it was not a good experience. And all you had to do was go to a game to hear all the cursing(as many little children did).

Larry made his own bed. History will say he was one of the best coaches ISU ever had, and also one of the worst....

I know of one LE story that occurred after we took a 30-point pounding at TX, the year of our second B12 title, and would make the Mizzou coed story seem like a Sunday church brunch.

First off the spread against Hampton was a hell of lot more than one point, making this observation and the rest of the allegations in this post complete nonsense. If anyone in our athletic department had any knowlege of point shaving they would have had to report it by law. To act like there were all these rumors the fans knew and the athletic department didn't is ridiculous. Do you really think we would have given Larry hundreds of thousands of dollars to walk away if any of this were remotely true. This reminds me of some of the completely ridiculous rumors flying around Iowa City towards the end of the Alford era. What a huge load of garbage in this thread. Its great that our own fans trash one of our greatest coaches on an ISU message board with hearsay from a bar when alcohol is involved.

It's not a 3rd hand story if the woman's husband was there, in person, hearing LE's words directly. LE smeared his own reputation and his actions, not reported on the front page of the Rag, made many of us ISU fans uncomfortable.
