Re: How did you become a Clone fan?

Right now I say the only schools my kids are banned from are Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. If my job moves to Michigan in 3 years and I move with my job, I'll be adding Michigan St to that list as well.

I have been a Chiefs fan since 1969 (there's my age) and I would rather not have to buy more jersey's that are diffferent colors..

Actually- I won my first bet against a Hawk fan when ISU beat Iowa for the first time since Christ was a Cowboy in football-So a shower shoe I am

Re: How did you become a Clone fan?

Dad is a Hawkeye fan (no connection to the school at all), mom doesn't give a rip about sports, stepdad is a Nebbie fan (he was born and raised there, went to undergrad and grad there, I cut him some slack).

My dad took me to most home EIU football games when I was younger, and some men's and women's basketball games. I never really thought about ISU until around college-search time when I realized the people in my class going to EIU were mainly d-bags that I didn't want to associate with. And ISU has one of the best programs in the nation in what was my planned major (things have changed there), so it went to the top of the list. Never even visited EIU--miffed dad a bit, but he got over it.

My dad even bought Cy's Pack season tickets last year and dons an ISU hat and sweatshirt during the games! During the EIU game last fall I let him wear an EIU hat and ISU sweatshirt, but hey--he does help with tuition! And the 3 of the 4 games he made it to last year, we came out victorious so we encouraged him to buy Cy's Pack again this year.

Sorry for the lengthy novel.

I was oh-so-close betraying my Cloneness and to going to Iowa for college but was offered a scholarship to ISU, which rescued me.

I shudder to think how my life would be different had I gone there.

The fact that so many of us (myself included) are converted Cyclone fans - just proves that we truly are gluttons for punishment.

Has to hurt before it heals, right?

Harriet Michaels: Do you actually like haggis?

Re: How did you become a Clone fan?

Both my parents are from Mitchell, SD and attended USD. When they graduated, they moved down to Urbandale, and my dad, being someone who just likes sports in general, lived under the umbrella of Hayden Fry. He's been a Hawkeye fan since then, but he always said he loved watching Cyclone Basketball. He still says Jeff Hornacek is his favorite college BBall player of all time. Anyway, we moved back up to SD when I was young, so I was never under the constant pressures of the Iowa/ISU rivalry. When time came to go to college, and I decided on ISU, I threw myself into it completely. Getting to march during only our second ever bowl win as a freshman, I was hooked forever. I was dipping my feet that whole season, but Ellis Hobbs III and his game clinching interception are responsible for me jumping into the deep end.

I think everyone was Born a Clone. They just didn't know it.

I'm the only one in my family that hasn't graduated from Iowa State in 3 Generations. I'm a bit of an outcast.

Born, bred and raised a Cyclone. I was the first in my family to go to a University and get a degree, though. And, by family, I mean ANY of my family. Except my Uncle, who was a pilot in the Air Force and a Math Teacher after he retired.

I still remember Cy lifting his tail feathers at me when I was in 7th grade. I had just told him Herky was better. It was at the State Science fair. Before it was over I was in love with ISU and never even considered another college.
