Any earlier thread mentioned that not all of us were blessed to be born a Cyclone. How did you become a Clone?

Not really sure. My family was mostly hawk and panther fans since they were originally from Waterloo. I went to Ames once as a kid and fell in love with the campus and the people, guess thats where it started.

Born and raised in Ames. Easy choice as the light was already on for me.

Parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents are alumni. Had no choice and that's fine with me!

Born in Hawk land, but my parents both went to ISU. My brothers gave into the peer pressure as kids and started as Hawk fans. I was able to withstand the dark side and always was a Clone.

For aught I care, you ought to be able to spell things however you'd like, right?

Both of my parents are alums and I was born at Mary Greeley when Dad was in Vet School. Mom and Dad didn't make it easy on me by moving to NE Iowa, but I made and moved closer to the mother country by coming to Ankeny.

My first basketball game was in 1974. I was also born that year. So I guess I was born into it. I am not sure weather to love my dad for it or hate him for it.

Born in Long Island, NY, where my family (and the rest of the population in general) couldn't give two rips about the NCAA. Moved to Davenport when I was 4. Almost instantly became a Hawkeye fan. Lasted until I received my acceptance letter to ISU. I now bleed cardinal (the real color of blood) and gold...

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Wasn't born a Cyclone but went to ISU, then I experienced Hilton Magic in the early-mid 90s and am a clone for life. The 0-10-1 year in football wasn't fun though......

I hope to create a family tradition of Cloneitude. Although, I did tell my wife the kids could go to any school they want as long as its in the B12. However, if they chose KU, they would be disowned.

Parents both attended ISU, as did other relatives. I was the only Clone fan in the midst of a bunch of Hawk fans in grade school in NW Iowa. Took a lot of heat for that, but later when we grew up, some of my friends wised up and switched affiliations.

I just loved watching basketball. The more I watched, the more I saw ISU. The more that happened, the more I loved ISU. Then I went there from 92-96, and it's taken an unshakable root
Also, my wife grew up in a house where athletics weren't always a real big deal, but she's blossomed into a tremendous Cyclone fan!

Grew up in Utah and moved to Iowa in HS. Was never a fan of either school that much, however I learned early on to despise the Hawkeyes because of the arrogance in the fan-base. Anyway, I became a Cyclone when we lived in Ames for four years while my wife attended Veterinary School...
