I simply just love the character I see in our program right now - exemplified today with our women. Even if that shot had gone in at the end, I'd feel the same way - was actually typing this thing up when we were still behind.
I've seen the same from our MBB team and started to see it in our FB team late last fall. The yearning desire to fight and fight and fight. I love it.
Our man might get waxed tomorrow night by A&M and our girls may get pounded by A&M or upset by Mizzu in their next game - but I certainly won't be concerned about our dedication to the task at hand and character to keep playing the entire game - regardless of the score.
Everyone should go back and read the game thread. It gives you goose bumps and almost makes you cry from pride. The emotions of the game are still fresh and all of our comments from the second half on were dripping with joy and pain and joy and pain and then exhiliration.
I love Fennelly but there once was this guy name Harold Nichols...
And during Nichols time, Johnny Majors took an ingrained losing football program and brought it into Div 1 competitiveness. Also during Nichols time our hockey program picked up Murtaugh. We had a prennial championship gymnastics team under Gaignier (sp?) and finally we had national championship cross country teams.
All of these came from a nondescript athletic background without the help of huge athletic budgets or decades of tradition.
Because of the foregoing, it is futile to pretend there is one best coach-of-all-time. We have been fortunate to have several of them in several different sports in several different time periods.
I do think that our current AD and Pres. are one of the better combinations we've ever had and I will not be surprised if we have more best-ever coaches coming our way sooner rather than later.
Whether you think you can or think you can't;
you are right. Henry Ford
The Rag will have a small blurb about the game on the last page of the sports page, right below Corrections.
Nice job ladies!
Yeah, but News Channel 8 is down there covering it. Thank god for Andy Garman taking over for Heidi Soliday. He is really good about taking advantage of a reason to watch basketball in person and travel.
