The thing that really irks me about SD, is what you nailed right on the head - he's a hypocrite.
He preaches on and on about his religion. How he's "not a man of this world, but the next world." Yet while he's here, he pretty much treats anyone who won't benefit him, like dirt.
Preaches and claims being a Christian, but acts quite the opposite.

Preaches and claims being a Christian, but acts quite the opposite. Exactly. You hit the nail on the head. I also agree politically with PoppaShongo on a lot of things, (e.g. Des Moines School board), but I don't think he practices what he preaches.

My wife and I support various non-profit organizations with our funds, guidance, physical support and downright menial labor all the time. The majority of the non-profits who solicit our help are a lot like Mr. Deace. They have these grand ideas, but totally lack the ability to carry them out and deliver on their promises.
It has become our policy to a) assume incompetence until proven otherwise, and to b) not make the distinction between evil intent and sheer incompetence. Sometimes they look so similar that it is difficult to ascertain which they are.
The problem is, if you are so incompetent that you constantly screw people over, how are you different from a crook whose intent is to screw people? A responsible individual would relook what they are doing and change "something" to stop from hurting people.

I used to like the fat guy who is now only pleasantly plump before I found out how genuine he actually is, but have never liked the school board member who holds everybody else to a standard 10 stories higher then he has ever operated himself, but I refuse to put their names down. Anybody whose motto is to make as much "bank" as possible picked the wrong college team in Iowa as we are much smarter(or at least most of us are) then their shallow silly little schemes.

Wow, that is a perfect characterization.

Which really focuses the spot light on your last point....

So my question still stands...
How did he finagle his way into the mainstream media. Sometimes we're bumbling fools too, but I'd think if SD and Co. were that bad, someone would haul on the brakes. Or are his ratings that good? If that's the case, then a multitude of sins are covered.

But his spot on "State of the Nations" is little more than a case of being the only show in town.
He owned and operated CN. Who else are you going to put up there?

I might as well come clean: I listen to Deace sometimes. I don't know why, but I sometimes even find myself enjoying parts of the show. Sometimes he makes sense, and I think it's almost like look at the message, not the messanger. I don't like him personally, but sometimes he makes good points.

Other get in by who they know, which is how I suspect SD got there.

Unless WHAT you know is that some high level exec cheated on his wife.

He owned and operated CN. Who else are you going to put up there? That makes sense. So does he still do a show on KXNO? Where is that out of? I've never heard his show.
Now the Mediacom thing is becoming clearer. Although on television, Deace and Miller are about as engaging as the TV Guide channel.
To be honest, I find this insight fascinating...

Unless WHAT you know is that some high level exec cheated on his wife. This is true in many cases, although I'd like to think I've gotten to where I am in my profession by dint of my character and skill.
Although you won't be seeing me as a news director any time soon.

To be honest, I find this insight fascinating... He is on WHO out of Des Moines. It is a ranting and raving political show.
