I think this is the first time that I have read somewhere besides here about wanting to put a upperdeck on the south endzone
Pollard's department is raising funds to add an upper deck and enclose the south end zone, widen the east concourse with added concessions and restrooms at Jack Trice Stadium. That plan originally cost $35 million. |

I agree, and if our football team can somehow exceed expectations for this season (win more than 6 games and sustain season ticket sales), I really feel like we will have strong support from donors to help fund the JTS projects. Once we have that done, basketball will be the next priority. Football has a much greater income potential, thus football success would have a much greater impact on our entire athletics department.

I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

Current "Real Seat" capacity is like 46,500 or close to.
Best crowds we can get about 57,000 in the stadium.
My guess would be that the lower bowl would put our "real seat" capacity around 51,000.
My guess for the entrire endzone done would be around 61,000.
I'm no expert though.
Hey look at Indiana. They currently don't fill their stadium or close to it and they don't have any endzone seating currently. They are adding a huge endzone to their stadium so they have a vision.
And if Iowa loses too many more games...half their stadium will be empty so basically what I am trying to say is if you win the fans come out. We are putting 50-57K in our stadium while sucking.
I could imagine 61,000 tickets versus Nebraska, Iowa, A&M, Texas, OU wouldn't be a problem if we were actually good. |

I did some interpreting. I figured that's more what you meant

There will be seats lost from last year to next with the changes to the west end. The same will happen when the east side is done. You take 2500? grass spots plus the south endzone seats plus seats lost do to udgrades and you are not adding much. The hard seat count will go up but the people in the stadium may not.
I still would like to see a BB facality so that program doesnt fall behind more in the facality aspect. There is only so long the coaches can sell blueprints to kids, they have to get something built at somepoint.
The way it sounds it call comes down to a key donor for both. Meaning they will both have a name attached to them worth millions.

Not saying we don't want to be successful at both, but FB is much more critical to the bottom line. Need to keep up with the Jone's there 1st and then catch up with BBall. |
