I'm not at all opposed to it. I think it would be outstanding for the program. I just don't think we should go building a crapload of extra seats when there is no real proof we can fill them when other programs need just as much help in the money department.

That's why it's very important to have a large donor.

It really seems silly to me to build more than one level in the south endzone. It is my understand that a bowled in south endzone would essentially replace those hillside seats and bring our seated capacity to a little over 50,000, as right now, i think it's at 47,000 seats, and when we fill all 4 hillsides we can get 57,000, so therefore wiping out half the hillside capacity would presumably put 5,000 more actual seats giving us a seated capacity of 52,000. If we put butts in those seats consistently AND fill the north hills for 4-5 years, then we think about adding the upper deck. It's just going to look stupid having an empty upper deck for every game that isn't Iowa or Nebraska...

And let's say in 10 years we still would only have those seats full for Iowa and Nebraska every year. It still isn't worth it. Basically, to me it is taking a huge gamble on a lot of money for something that might be worth it. Meanwhile there are other programs (namely MBB and WBB) who suffer because of the lack of a practice facility and other things. That is my point.

Lucky for us we won't have to make the decision and neither will anyone inside the AD per say. It will be made by someone willing to put their money into it to the tune of 10mil+. If they want to bowl in the endzone they will do that and if they want a practice facility they will do that. If they want to donate something like 25mil to JT they will probably seriously consider a double deck because there is no way it doesn't increase revanue as long as you don't take out too much debt to pay for it. As a rule of thumb if you sell out every game you are losing potential revanue but when you have too big of a stadium people don't like looking at empty seats. Another thing to consider, you can always adjust prices to get the right amount of people in the seats. Which could result in more people watching football in JT at a lower average price.

Getting away from the money aspect for a minute, how loud would that south end zone be if the student section was moved down there and let loose? I have to think the noise level would climb astronomically

I really hope we get a new jumbotron and sound system. The one we have now is sub-par, it's more like a triple bogey.
