If I were a Hawkeye fan, I would buy that shirt and wear it to the Iowa - Iowa State game. Sure it makes sense for the Spring Game, but didn't anyone consider the "There's always next season..." vibe?

I think I'd go with a "The Season Starts Today" or "The Season Begins Now"...but then we'd be accused of the old Super Bowl excuse.

Yes, but I think what the shirt is communicating is more like, "There is no Next Season. We play for This Season." However, I will admit that the phrase is rather ambiguous.

That said, I don't think they worried too much about wasting a lot of time thinking about the phrase for the spring game.

Prepare to pay a bit more for some of the new gear. I was shopping at the new shop in SE Ankeny (the Stadium maybe, I forgot the name already) and the guy there said that they have to pay licensing fees "per color" and some of the new ISU gear has 5 colors, so like for like, ISU gear will likely cost more than other schools' gear.

Love the logo,....hate the extra red striping on the sides of the hat and on the bill. Why not keep it simple and classic? Why do we always have to incorporate some sort of Bush League flair to our gear.

How about a plain Cardinal or White hat with the new logo on the front. End of story.

We're Nike Elite now. That's how the Elite gear looks...

That's unfortunate. I would have thought "Nike Elite" gear would be cool, not left over USFL stuff.

I guess there just isn't making some fans happy - give them the logo and colors they like and they start ******** about a few too many stripes on a hat - WTF???

First off, Iowa State is sponsored by Nike, which means they're pumping funds into the athletic department. Some people said they don't care what our uniforms look like as long as we win - well guess what? If having Nike pump $$$ into the athletic department means an extra stripe or two on the hat, so be it.

Second - I'm sure nationwide this style hat has sold better that the plain hats that you clamor for. Which do you think will take priority?

Third - do you honestly believe for a second that there WON'T be a plain cardinal hat? The bookstore received it's first shipment of product. Do you honestly think this is the only shipment that they are going to receive? The only product line they're going to receive?
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I took it to mean something like "there is no offseason".

What are you guys talking about? The players got these for winter conditioning, in which case the phrase is very appropriate; for what they were doing was preparing for the '08 season. Technically, until you hit summer practice, they are still on the '07 season calendar. Don't let your brain get in your way.
