Cy's House of Trivia
Well, I told you guys that Cy's House of Trivia would be fun and it was. Actually, it was a blast. Unfortunately, our team 'Team Slapsgiving' dind't fare so well, but I am guessing the free beer contributed to that. We had three 'celebrities' join our table during the course of the night. Football assistant Eric Link, The Cott-man, and Ed Banach. Cott man and Banach both helped us out with answers while Link was chasing around Chizik for one of our teammates (she has an unhealthy crush on him). Anyways, I got to talk with Chizik, Rahshon, Mike Busch, and a number of other Cyclone 'celebs'. We didn't get to talk to Bolt but from everything I saw and was told, he was a RIOT. We are DEFINATELY going to make it an annual thing, hopefully it doesn't get too big and too expensive. Here are some pics.

Heard it was about double the attendance of last year's event. Wish I could have made it this year.

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
31 teams last year, 46 this year. It can't expand too much more or there won't be any floor space left in Hilton.

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
This seems like it is a pretty cool event. Can someone describes what actually takes place during it? Types of trivia questions and whatever else goes on.
Step 1: Cut a hole in the box. -
Re: Cy's House of Trivia
There were 8 rounds of questions, I think each round had 8-10 questions.
Some categories were
Cyclones Sports
State of Iowa
Kids Lit
Fill in the blank
what doesn't belong.
There was an hour meet and greet before, free aps and beer and wine. Then halfway through they bring pizzas to each table. They have some 'celebrities' that rotate around tables. It was a blast. We found out we don't know much about the state of Iowa though...

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
8 rounds of 10 questions each. Only 1 round is ISU athletics. The rest is general knowledge, and can be fill-in-the-blank or multiple guess.
This year's categories: Games (board/card, etc.), state of Iowa, Odd one out (which of these doesn't belong), Villains, ISU athletics, state of TV (what state is the show set in), movie quotes (name the movie), and Kid Lit (children's books).
Raffle items (trip to Vegas) and silent auction (memorabilia) also involved.
Free beer, wine, soda. Free t-shirt. Free hot/cold appetizers. Free pizza (two larges at each table).
Rotating "celebrities" at the tables...mostly ISU coaches and administration. Johnny Orr was there, as was Mike Busch. I think Larry Cotlar was a "celebrity" also. There was a shortage of celebrities, so some tables only got 3, while others had 5.

seems like you guys had quite the good time! Bolt is a RIOT, we seen him while we were watching horse races Friday night at Prairie Meadows...he was playing craps and you could hear him yelling from all the way across the casino floor. We went over and watched for awhile and the whole table was laughing the whole time at him! He was hilarious

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
I saw Bolt at a few basketball games and he was really getting into it...I even saw him "raise the roof" a few times which took him up a couple notches in my book because I haven't seen anybody do that in like 10 years.

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
Yeah, I think our team was a bit younger than the target demographic, those questions outdated us a bit, but definitely will be something I look forward to doing again!

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
Rep points for you just for the team name. Slapsgiving is my new favorite holiday!

Re: Cy's House of Trivia
It sounds like a fun time!
Can somebody tell me how much it costs, per person or table, whatever it is...
-
Re: Cy's House of Trivia
$400/table (team) = $50/person
-
Re: Cy's House of Trivia
could someone explain exactly what this fundraiser or event was? Guess i never heard of it and have somewhat of an explanation by the talk, but am not for sure on what it actually is? but it sure does sound fun.
