Any doubters on the new I State logo?

Actually...I kind of think just using the word "STATE" might not have been so bad...it would have attracted a lot of attention (possibly via confusion)!

I have seen the two toned flat one described above on shirts in Ames...can't remember where though. Mall? Hy-Vee?

That is exactly how I feel about it. I can't stand the new logo, the old ones were all much better.

We distinguish ourselves by winning.

Take another example: OSU. Is it Ohio? Oklahoma? Oregon?

I'm willing to be that most people outside of the Big 12 and Pac 10 associate OSU with Ohio State, and that's because Ohio State wins.

Illinois State, Idaho State, and Indiana State are not BCS schools. Iowa State is.

If we win, nobody will have any trouble figuring what I State stands for.

Good or bad, at least the new logo should cut down on the crap the old logo created. Just in this thread alone I've seen reference to:

Tazmanian Cy
Whirlybird
Bird in a Blender

Not to mention my wife's concoction, the Thunderchickens.
(She'll never let that one go, she's a Husker grad...)

I do like the colors going back to Cardinal & Gold instead cherry red. However, I think we have the coolest nickname in college sports the Cyclones. I'm really disappointed that they didn't utilize this in our logo. I wasn't a fan of the whirlybird but I would've loved to see the Cyclones incorporated into the new logo. It distinguishes us from Idaho and Illinois state and it could be very cool.

I very much agree with that, although maybe it's a good thing we didn't given that a Cyclone just killed 100,000 people or so...

I've got the Old Logo tattooed on me so I have a feeling I will always be partial to that one. Plus I will miss people who don't know asking why we had a bird in our "tornado" and explaining the history behind that. The I will never recieve that question. I'm sure over time I may start to enjoy it.

Certainly been asked that one a few times... like during the rain delay during the 4th quarter of the Texas game 2 years ago in Austin...

It was fun explaining for a while, though towards the end we kind of just wanted leaflets to hand out rather than go through the whole story again. Either way, it was a good way to bring up school history

Later that year we went to K-State and stopped at the book store - they were giving out buttons that said "We STILL want to know whats with the bird in the tornado?"

Even though they were purple Warder60 and his brother, myself and Superfan wore those the rest of the day, with a bit of pleasure I might add. We got quite a kick from it...
