Now, I know ISU has club teams, but I thought it was a little strange that a player would show up in a recruiting database? Anybody have any ideas why?

It could be a grade issue or could be that they are marginal for a D1 program or it could be they are a draft and follow for a Major League team(or the above post). I don't know all the ins and outs about that but it has something to do with the MLB team holding that players rights for those two years but no money exchanging hands. ( I am sure someone can add more info to that.)
As for the ISU recruit it has to be a typo or we will be getting a surprise announcement soon?

The main reasons a 'good' player will is to get noticed by scouts or bigger schools. Baseball is a sport that you have to play to get better. You don't benefit from a redshirt year and or sitting the bench. Your very top high school players will go pro or D1. The next group, 8-20 round type, will likely go Juco so they can play, improve their stock, and maybe get a better college offer. I would say most top 25 Juco baseball teams could destroy most D1 schools in baseball and still do better in the classroom.
