Just received my 9/1/08 issue and there it is on page 46... ISU is ranked #563 out of 569...IN THE "BOTTOM TEN COLLEGES".
I haven't reviewed the explanation of their methodology but I am having a difficult time believing we would ever be in the bottom ten. At any rate...this is not real good publicity for ISU.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

the CCAP ranks 569 undergraduate institutions based on the quality of the education they provide, and how much their students achieve.

Here's the online link... America's Best Colleges - Forbes.com
They apparently like our Campanille though, it's used for at least three colleges. Iowa State, Northeastern University (568), and Drew University (63).

Hope HB does not see this.
New College of Florida is 29 and 15k. How much did they pay or are they related to gymnast judges?

Yeah, someone sent that to me earlier in the week and I couldn't believe it. I have no idea what they used for their criteria but something in there is really, really screwing ISU. Here are the Iowa colleges in order:
71 Cornell
90 Clarke
107 Grinnell
182 Coe
188 Luther
211 Northwestern
241 Simpson
331 UofI
374 Dordt
430 Wartburg
472 UNI
486 Drake
554 Central
563 ISU
Umm, ok.

I call BS. When you have the number 1 agriculture school in the world, how can you be ranked that low. Plus we have one of the top engineering schools. Just because ISU doesn't have a law school doesn't mean we suck.
| Some People see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not? When I took this job I said why not Iowa State? Why not winning? Why not bowl games? Why not sell outs? Why not national respect? Why not us? Why not here? Why not the cyclone family?

The way they rank them is BS. Using online rankings, books you pay to get into, and high hard to get awards. Look at what grads do in the real world, not in the kiss my butt world.

Isn't ISU one of the higher rated Big 12 schools? According to US news it was, even though we were still in the 70's-80's. Here's a question, if you had to rank all the big 12 schools based on academics, what would your order be? Personally I don't know enough to make an educated list but I'm curious to what some people’s answers are.

Forbes also listed Kevin McHale as the best General Manager in all of the 4 major professional sports.
