Meet the Coaches Night 8-21
Just seeing who else was planning on being there Thursday... The wife and I are meeting up with a few other couples to fill out our table. Hope it is as much fun as last year.

Re: Meet the Coaches Night 8-21
Just got back, nothing too earth shattering. The thing I really take away from these get togethers is that our coaches honestly love being here and they want to give the loyal fans the best product they possibly can put on the field.
I don't know who wrote Chizik's joke but it was classic. I don't have time to write it but ask someone who was there to tell it.
And he asked everyone to come greet the buses next Thursday night, it really jacks the players up.

I suspect that one is likely going to find its way to a bulletin board in Iowa City...and Iowa needed something like that to add to this game to raise their intensity ;)

So what's the joke? I mean other than the Iowa football team;)
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

Someone please tell the joke!
ps, for their sake, when the Hawks hear the joke, they also hear that they are supposed to play with intensity

Is it the one about the Clone fan picking up the priest hitchhiking and starting top swerve at the Iowa fan when the priest swings open the door, and looking ahocked the priest says whew, almost missed that one...

I suspect that by sundown tomorrow, it's not going to be much of a secret. I left before the coaches spoke, to get some time in with the family....but not all ears present on the night could be considered loyal ISU ears.
Within minutes of Chizik giving the joke, I received a call from someone that was there and heard it, and then before it was over, another call.
Again, I find it in line with gamesmanship. But Iowa needs a kick in the pants to turn up their intensity to match ISU's in this game, and I suspect that something like this will do that better than any billboard ever did.

So you won't say the joke?

Re: Meet the Coaches Night 8-21
There were two jokes, both of which were quite good. I'm not sure they would have the same punch on here.

The two accounts of it that I heard were identical, so I suspect I have the proper gist. But I'll save it for a 'friendly' to post, so I don't get accused of stretching the truth, since again, I was not there when the joke was delivered.

Chizik will get to hear his name on KXNO tomorrow, like many CF posters.
