Shawn Johnson is she eligible for college gymnastics

I really hope that Shawn chooses to go to ISU. Frankly I could care less is she is actually on the gymnastics team. Heck, most people don't even know we have a gymnastics team. I would just like Shawn to go and be a great student at ISU, because really that's what its all about.

It's true most people don't know about the gymnastics team. However one of the most famous ISU grads ever, Known by everyone, was a national Champion. Hello everybody....... Hiiii EDDD.

It is neither ignorant nor stereotypical, as stated above physiology is going to start working against her. Combine that with her body type, as set by her parents and there is an above average chance she will not be in the kind of top notch condition needed to be the very best Olympian in another 4 years.

I am not saying she is going to go on some eating binge and gain 50 pounds, I am not saying it to be hurtful or negative towards women, but looking at her, I think it will be amazing if she is competing 4 years from now at this level.

If I am wrong I will be the first to admit it.

Wasn't that Sacaramore (sp?) from the USA also in her early 20's? I realize she didn't do well in the finals, but she was still part of the team.

Alicia Sacramone is 21, turning 22 in December.

Odds Shawn Johnson ever wears an olympic all round gymnastics gold medal = not good at all. Corporate America is uniformly crying across the board. They obviously wanted Shawn to win, I mean the media can't even mention Liukin without saying Shawn Johnson in the next breath. If Shawn had the gold and Liukin the silver we wouldn't even hear Nastia's name.

Most young ladies are out of the sport - at least at that high of a level, by the time they are 20 years old. I can only think of one case where an American girl competed when she was older than 20, and that was Dominique Dawes - she was 22. 30+ year old Russian lady who vaulted for Germany is a freak of nature. Simple fact of the matter - age is going to be against Shawn Johnson if she goes for London, and as far as Nastia Liuken she probably wants to consider moving on with her life.

Can't disagree with that.
