Where should the old sign go?

I just found out my girlfriend is helping out with where to put the "Iowa State University" letters on campus. There are a few different options for where they could get placed and she wants your feedback. The current options are in the poll, and I will upload pictures of how it may look once she sends them to me next week. Anyway, what are your thoughts?

Ooh... either on Hilton facing North, or on the exit by 30 and University (which was my vote). Both get lots of exposure.

Save 'em for the back of the upper deck for the south end zone.

Re: Where should the old sign go?

Not on MWL. While tall, those buildings aren't exactly the best architectural statements on campus. Nothing to be proud of there. Plain old dorms. Might as well put it on Hilton if you're going to do that. Still tall and with good visibility. Kind of redundant facing south vs. the new south facing football scoreboard sign however, and facing north would look nice but not be visible to people until they are on campus already.

I would say either on Highway 30 or on Willow facing East, so you can see it coming from the east...

Re: Where should the old sign go?

I don't see why it would be put on something run by the Athletic Dept (Hilton or the soccer field)...since the Athletic Dept is trying to get away from that font and do all signage in the new "Cyclone" font.

That hill by MWL is the practice fields that are used when the Iowa Games or Special Olympics are in town. It's not an athletic field.

The Hilton idea is something that had caught wind since it was mentioned here. Other than that, every other place was specific to the University and not athletically involved.

I think Highway 30 and University is the best option here.

I say build an archway either across University Blvd at the current columns and put it on the archway, or build an archway over Lincolnway somewhere between Hilton or CY-Stephens and MWL/fields. Definitely could add a grand entrance to campus.

I voted. But I bet they never appear again.

My bad, didn't read it close enough. I thought you meant the soccer field directly east of Lied, which is an athletic dept venue. The hill by the MWL fields makes more sense now.

I think out on Hwy 30 is the best option...there's already a giant "I-State" on the back of the scoreboard and I think the electronic sign north of Hilton also says "Iowa State University".

I would say build an archway over 30 just past Dayton, or put it on the Dayton Bridge...

They'll appear again, but they just aren't sure where to put them. Hence to poll.
