didn't okie state pretty much blow the last donation he gave them? i heard they tried investing it into some kind of hedge fund where they thought they were gonna get a higher return and pretty much lost all of it?

Does this guy give money to things other than Okie St. sports? I assume he does because while I am a big sports fan, I could think of people who need money much more than OSU. Obviously, it's his money and he can do what he wants with it, but if I had that much money I would feel obligated to give it to charities before athletic departments.

On one hand it would be nice. On the other hand, I don't know if I want someone running my athletic department that isn't on the payroll.

I think it was invested in his own hedge fund.

so there is some truth to it? did they lose most of the original investment then? the way i heard it was that he was gonna have to give more just to pay for the upgrades that they are currently doing-for a second time

I think it was also managed by his own people, not anyone with OSU, although, I could be wrong.

He's a big reason that the SBVFT (swiftboaters) were able to attack John Kerry.

If I had as much money as him I'd be donating just as much to ISU athletics. I would give money to charities as well but I'd much rather watch ISU athletics really take off.

Okie State didn't blow it, Boone did. It had ballooned in value to around 350 mil and Okie State wanted to cash out, but Boone wouldn't let them for some reason. Now with the economy in the crapper the whole thing is worthless! And they've already started on stadium improvements so he had to bail them out with this new donation.
