Why does ISU have to buy all uniforms from Nike? Is Nike the only company in the world who makes uniforms? If Nike can't make the other uniforms in the colors ISU wants, then maybe ISU needs to buy those uniforms from somebody who will. I thought the customer is always right???

Because Nike pays us to wear thier uniforms... THEY are the customer...

The purpose of this letter is to share several updates on the transition. Nike, our equipment provider, has designated the football and men’s and women’s track programs in their “elite” uniform division which means those sport’s uniforms are custom made in the colors we want (for example, what is being worn by the football team this season).
ISU needs uniforms.
Nike provides uniforms.
That makes ISU the "customer", and Nike the "vendor".
Whether or not ISU is a "paying" customer is another story...
My sweetie bought me a cardinal I-State Nike shirt for my birthday last month. From what I can tell, the color is perfect. It's not OU crimson, or aTm maroon (both of which are in plentiful supply around here), or McDonald's red, or NU red, but ISU cardinal. How hard can it be to get the correct color for the other uni's? As another poster pointed out, this generic color thing for the non "elite" sports is stupidity that shouldn't be tolerated.

Whether or not ISU is a "paying" customer is another story... We are a source of advertising for Nike. They get to choose how much effort they want to put in their advertising. They pay us...

Whether or not ISU is a "paying" customer is another story... Well, I'm confused, after reading Jamie's letter, for uniforms other than football and track, why we have to order the "cardinal" color. It's so dark. Not Iowa State at all. Why don't we just order a Nike shade of red that's brighter???

Whether or not ISU is a "paying" customer is another story... I'd say at the point where ISU says we will wear nothing but Nike, ISU receives money, and our teams become walking Nike ad spots then ISU is the vendor. ISU offers the product of advertising.

Nike ---> $$$$---> ISU

Nike ---> $$$$---> ISU Seems like there might have been better choices than ISU Track for optimizing their ad dollars...

Re: Why the different cardinal colors for ISU teams?
I can't believe that JP allowed this to happen. (keep in mind he wanted the football team to wear white helmets) He states that in the interim we have to accept this. I wonder how long the interim is. Having all of these different shades of cardinal makes us look like a second rate athletic dept that gets our uniforms at a close out sale. Not a very good way to improve ISU's image.

At an ISU Foundation reception prior to the game last night - there must have been 15 different shades of red/maroon in the room, all on apparel with the the I-State logo. I was almost ready to take a group picture.
