He did, right before Petey took his second three pointer with about 6 seconds left on the clock. But, the ref never did anything. If I remember correctly, he was dang near in his face yelling for a TO, but never got it.

You are correct, how a ref can miss McD running at him calling a TO and yelling is it beyond me.

I saw coach Mac yelling at the refs after the game, pleading his case. It didn't make any sense until I heard his post game show where he said he was trying to call time out.

It's no more complicated than this: 3 forgettable football seasons in a row; 3 forgettable basketball seasons in a row, with a fourth one perhaps (after last night) warming up in the bullpen.

Fans, contributors to the program, etc., are understandably frustrated and questioning the direction of the two big-money mens sports. They have every right to be upset and wonder if the right decisions are being made. If they are not questioning the direction, then apathy has set in--which is the death of any program.

Like the sands of time and the wind blowing through the trees, the bball season will creep onward to spring football practice. Houston, Mercer and Iowa will be major challenges.


Tonight Creighton whipped up on Dayton Flyers (ranked #25) with Stinnet scoring 21 points and Kaleb Korver scorinjg 12 points. Kenny Walker played also. Looks like a great MVC team that could compete in the Big 12.

Both the football and basketball teams are young, and therefore are going to be inconsistent. Yes, last night we lost a game that we should have won. It's going to happen more than most people can handle this year. However, we are also probably going to beat a couple of teams that we shouldn't.

This whole thing about calling for a coaches head, or even Pollards for that matter, after every loss is getting a little rediculous. My guess is that 99.9% of people on this board have never been a college coach in any sport and have no idea what it takes to build a winning program. Anyone that thought that GMac and Chiz were going to come in from day 1 and make us a national title contender in 5 years is smoking some bad stuff.

Take another gulp of the Kool-Aid. I will continue to view the objective product for both basketball and football and right now I'm not impressed with Chizik or McDermott. Greg may be a good coach, but he is not collectively recruiting Big 12 talent. Hopefully, his new assistant from Illinois will remedy the issue. Chizik is fighting a tough battle to recruit numbers which is really hard at Ames, Iowa. We need coaches to recruit the best level of talent we can get and then improve them each year. It's not happening right now. My fingers are crossed though.

Regardless of your feeling on Mac or not, please quit bringing up our 6-2 record as anything of real significance. It's a hollow 6-2. There is not one quality win in there if it was to be looked at for a postseason resume.

Sorry but McDermott is not above criticism when it's merited. Right now there's plenty of ammo to use against him.

Maybe explaining the positive things you see would be better than ranting about meltdowns and setting up straw men by acting like anyone with a criticism wants him fired by tomorrow morning.
