    Re: Chizik vs Floyd

Not a good comparison as people have said. I actually still have a grudge against Floyd, what with the way it overtly went down with Jerry Krause attending our games. I haven't really let it go. I loved him as our coach, and he liked his time in Ames and still thinks fondly of it. I still like him, but I can't stand him being at another school. I didn't mind it as much when he was failing horribly in the NBA.

    Re: Chizik vs Floyd

Right after Floyd took the Bulls job he flew into Des Moines to attend the Des Moines Cyclone Club summer outing. He spoke about how grateful he was for the opportunity Iowa State gave him, and how tough it was to leave. He then stayed around after the event until the last person who wanted to talk to him had left.

The memories of that event have always stayed with me. Floyd didn't have to come back for that. He didn't have to stick around to shake hands and pose in pictures. But he did.

It shows the level of the man's character and class. I don't think you will see the same from Chizik...

Terrible comparison. Floyd won some games here and our program was on the rise. Chizik not so much

Let's quit this talk about how great of coach Tim Floyd is/was. He is not. He can recruit, but he has been fired from 2 jobs, and he continues to get outcoached while at USC.

So you are saying he did those things after he left ISU. Funny thing is Chizik didnt like doing those things when he was at ISU.

No comparison-there is a banner in Hilton for our first/last/only Big 8 tournament championship from Floyd's years.

His tactics were suspect but he did win until he lost his entire backcourt the year Henderson and Bruton were supposed to come

    Re: Chizik vs Floyd

I think the only comparison between the two is that they left for jobs that they may not have been qualified for thus possibly ruining some organizations. The Floyd hire blew up da Bulls, because he had no NBA experience and they are still trying to recover. The Chizik hire is tearing up Auburn Nation, because he has very little head coaching experience and probably was in nobody's top 10 list. I just think they both may be blinded by the prestige (and $$).

I think Alford and Chizik is a better comparison.

No comparison with Tim Floyd is even close....(imo)
I agree. I have no ill will toward Floyd. He did fine for us. It was rough that he left after a 12-18 season, but he left us Fizer and some solid talent.

That does say a lot. And I don't remember people going nuclear when Floyd left. I mean, he was hired by a pro team for huge money and he left us with talent, 3 NCAA appearances and a conference tournament championship. He recruited most of the players he had other than his first year also.

    Re: Chizik vs Floyd

Just sayin', there's not a lot of difference between Floyd and Chizik. Well, except that Johnny was forced out, so that Floyd would start off with a stocked roster. But Floyd definitely didn't "finish the job".[/quote]

You are an IDIOT. Floyd won the Big 8 Tournament. Chizik won 5 games.

    +1

This comparison is very, very foolish.

Alford won some games at Iowa too. Didnt he win a conference title and a couple conference tournys? Heck even he came back to talk to his players.

    Re: Chizik vs Floyd

I talked to Floyd several times at Cyclone functions. Very pleasant to visit with and said the right things when they needed to be said. Great sense of humor.

Can't say I've ever heard that about Chizik.
