What I dont understand
Is why people are so mad at Chizik for leaving. Trust me, I love my job and work hard everyday, but if the Chicago Cubs asked me to work for them I would be gone in a split second.
Auburn vs ISU for a football HC job. Hmmmm. You would have to be an idiot to not take that job. Im happy for coach Chizik. Sounds like he got his dream job.
All I ask of our coaches is that they work hard as they can while HC of our programs.

Re: What I dont understand
I would agree with all of the above, IF he hadn't said that he wanted to plant roots in Ames. He also apparently told his players a week ago at the football banquet that he was staying and wanted to be with these players (or something to that effect), and then he just up and leaves without a word to them or anybody else besides Pollard.
This has already been discussed ad nauseam. I expected him to leave at some point, but not now with the circumstances under which it happened.

Re: What I dont understand
Personally I feel as though we should call on Tuberville. A guy that has already had the "Big Time" job and realizes that sometimes the "grass isn't always greener". Until this years defeat Tuberville had the BEST winning percentage against the dreaded instate rivalry. He has obviously recruited well (you need to to win in the SEC). And right now is feeling pretty unappreciated.
He shows loyalty and results, and Cyclone fans will show unprecedented appreciation.

We are freaking Iowa State, why would you stay here when bigger and better things are calling you.
Of course we all want a great coach to come here and stay forever, but that is not likely. Most likely we will get a 'good' coach to stay here for a while.

Re: What I dont understand
I'm shocked but at 5-19 it's not like we lost a lot and I think Auburn fans are more angry to have him as their coach than we are losing him as ours. Sucks to be switching coaches already but it's obvious now he was never here for the long haul so just maybe this time we hire someone that really wants to be here.

Re: What I dont understand
I'm glad he made that decision. Better job for him, and it doesn't hurt us at all because it can't get much worse.

Re: What I dont understand
I understand why he left - Auburn is his dream job. What I don't understand is why he was ever considered for the job - or offered it for that matter. No coach with his record should have been offered that job. That is just plain unbelievable.

It is that he FAILED and barely even tried. He signed on to do a job and DIDN'T EVEN GET CLOSE!!! And he then runs away to an EASIER job that he'll likely get fired from. If he had fulfilled his mission here I would be irked but likely wish him well after a day or two of venting but 2 FREAKING WINS AND NO WINS IN CONFERENCE!!! You have got to be freaking kidding me. ONLY at Iowa State. Name one other place where this has happened.

Re: What I dont understand
We are not mad he left, it is just the way he did things, and that he was lying to us and his players the whole time.
I am still dancing and smiling that GC is gone. I don't have to make excuses for his ineptitude anymore. We may actually get a coach that knows the game of football.

I don't think there are any coaches on the planet that would turn down a 100% salary increase and one of the top 25 jobs in college football. If so, they have no ambition amd confidence and we shouldn't want them anyway...

Thats what I dont get. What makes a coach owe ISU anything? Why should he stay here until he succeeds? ISU is the hardest place in teh BCS to win. Why should he feel required to stay here to help us win 6-7 games? He owes ISU nothing. People who think so otherwise have been drinking the ISU KoolAid way too much.

Exactly. We are going to be a stepping stone for other coaches. Why is that so hard for people to figure out? Why people can't get the idea that we are not a top football program or never will be. We can have some really good seasons like Iowa, but we are not ever going to be up there with the likes of Auburn.

Re: What I dont understand
If Chizik succeeds in convincing some of his top recruits that have already played to follow him to Auburn......what exactly did we get for the $2 million plus that we paid Chizik over the past two years? 5 wins? The chance to see a lot of delay of game and personal foul penalties?
This is the worst thing about the whole situation. Its like these last 2 years didn't even happen now that he left this program high and dry. But we still paid for it in donations and ticket prices.

Im sure nobody at Auburn held our horrible history in football against him.
