Re: Ames on CNN for being Cold
"Last night, the temperature was still above zero (3 degrees Fahrenheit), but the wind chill (minus 14 degrees) was cold enough to make your skin burn," iReporter Kevin Cavallin said.
I think Kevin Cavallin needs a new thermometer.

Re: Ames on CNN for being Cold
They still managed to pick out Ames out of all the other below-zero cities for their story lead? We just can't catch a break.

Re: Ames on CNN for being Cold
For future reference, there are only three reasons that the east coast media will ever mention bad weather in the Midwest: - Really severe (e.g. severe flooding '93, '08)
- If the same weather system is coming to the east coast
- If it screws up O'Hare and thus screws up east coast travel

Although I think what really gets us there is a combination of all three. ____________________________________

It's going to be 4 tonight in NW Arkansas, I think once it reaches this level of cold the number is just a figure, it stinks to be in regardless!

Re: Ames on CNN for being Cold
CNN never misses an Ames riot or record cold temperature.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

According to the NWS website, Ames Municipal Airport is now reporting -28F.
I'm going to boil some water, throw it in the air outside, and see if it turns to ice before it hits the ground.

Is this a bad time for me to complain about Houston getting down to the 30's?
