Do you approachISU/Iowa fans out of state?
The thread about living out of state as an ISU fan made me think of this. I have often read stories involving both fan bases where someone approached them or they approached some one else. Which has always made me wonder how many do this and why? I very, very rarely even approach fans wearing Iowa gear. In fact at Greater Chicago Auto Auction I see Iowa gear regularly and have as of yet to even say Go Hawks. Not saying there is anything wrong with that as there are times that I do, but still rarely. What does baffle me is what inspires fan bases to go out of their way to trounce their rival out of state. I read it happens both ways so I am wondering others' thought s on this. Now to be fair so no one thinks I am trying to be hoity toity .........If I field a dealer trade call from a Ford dealer in Iowa I'm not above asking if they are an ISU or Iowa fan and then jokingly telling them I wont help them...... But that is as much to joke around and also because I hate messing with dealer trade calls……. Chad
Man was that hard to read...........hopefully a little editing helped.......:)

Re: Do you approachISU/Iowa fans out of state?
Cyclone fans have a secret handshake and saying...I guess you'll never know.

Re: Do you approachISU/Iowa fans out of state?
I met several Cyclone fans and fellow Iowans when I was in Salt Lake City last fall for a week. I made sure I was wearing the Cardinal & Gold whenever I was out and about.
Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas. -

When I see a Cyclone I often say "Go Cyclones or something like that." I don't usually bother Hawks, but occasionally as a joke.

I will say hello or something if I see someone with ISU gear on around here. I fight the urge to hit anyone I see wearing Iowa gear.....and there are alot of them around here.... -
Re: Do you approachISU/Iowa fans out of state?
I'll talk to ISU people on planes back to Iowa. Usually avoid the Hawks and Huskers... but occasionally I'll be nice.
I never fail to wear something ISU on the plane ride home
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

Even AZ of course, but I don't remember seeing that much in Colorado the last time I was out there. Keeping in mind that, that has been 10 years. But one wouldn’t think it would be a time sensitive kind of thing so that sounds kind of stupid reading it back…….. I do suppose Colorado is still a pretty big state for a family relocation though. I guess it used to be any way. Chad -

Mostly I just get yelled at by Iowa fans when I'm out of state. I heard an "F ISU" yell at Cedar Point amusement park last year when I was there in Ohio.

This doesn't involve me, but my parents were in Cancun last summer and were wearing some ISU gear. And they saw some other people wearing ISU appearal and they said they talked to them for about 30 minutes about sports, ISU, etc.

I try to avoid Iowa fans in the state.

When I greet Iowa fans out of state, "Hey, how is old Hayden Fry and Eddie Podalak doing."
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Yeah, if I am out of town and I see some brilliant person wearing ISU gear...I say something nice to them about our great school....of course. I know when I have someone approach me in the same situation it makes me feel at home again, and love the Clones even more.

It usually happens each time I go to a Texans game or Astros game. Either I say it or someone will yell it at me "GO CYCLONES!".
I've never had a Hawk fan given me any grief, but every now and then we end up talking about Iowa for a bit. Usually it's very pleasant. The only exception was at the UNLV game this fall. Could not believe how many Hawk fans were there just to root against us. I won't lie that got ugly a few times and both the group I was with was as much to blame as the Hawk group.
