I don't know about the volleyball coach, track coach, etc. but everybody knows that Cael was going to be our next wrestling coach, and Bobby had said he would step aside when Cael wanted it. Pretty hard to give JP any credit for getting Cael to ISU, and after the career he had he was going to become our head coach no matter who was A.D.

Just three days after the team failed to receive an invitation to the NIT, CBS SportsLine.com broke a story naming Iowa State as the centerpiece of a major scheduling and recruiting scandal. The same day, Cyclone stars Will Blalock and Curtis Stinson officially declared their availability for the NBA draft.
Then, two days later, ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard announced that coach Wayne Morgan had been fired after a review of many factors, including Iowa State's possible involvement in the scandal.
Um D1 players who give a rip about akedmiks is pretty much a joke. Going to college to be a PE teacher makes me laugh! I think the athletes should be paid because they are workhorses for the AD! So when are we going to start going to bowl games because of GPA? When is the BCS going to add that to its computation? When will grades matter in determining an RPI? It was reported that CBS writer Greg Doyle had a bone to pick with Morgan, and his story was slanted and biased. To quote Pollard, ISU coaches did nothing wrong and broke no NCAA rules. It was also clearly established that Morgan had a relationship with Anthony Davis thru LBS long before the scheduling service was used, and he was the only player even remotely connected with this overblown story. Fact is the NCAA didn't even bother to investigate us (or anybody else as far as I know) and to try to make Morgan out to be some kind of bad guy because of this is flat out wrong. And I doubt this story had anything to do with Stinson and Blaylock announcing they were making themselves available for the draft. I could just as easily surmise that they knew Morgan was about to get canned and they thought this might save his job as they both left the door open to come back. I would have loved to see a liine-up the next year of Stinson, Blaylock, Clark, and Taggart and Hubalek with a year of Big 12 experience under their belt. No doubt in my mind we would have been back in the NCAA, but that's just my opinion. And I did hear from somebody thru Archibald that JP didn't apply for an NIT game in Morgan's last year, so to say we wouldn't have been in the NIT in Morgan's last year may not be accurate.
Tell that to Sean Haluska. Or Cam Lee. Or Brian Petersen. Two of those 3 are going to graduate with degrees in Finance (SH) and kinesiology (BP) and Cam Lee will have an accounting degree next year. None of those are pushovers. Most of those athletes realize they aren't going to be professional athletes and have to get a real job when they get outta school and work towards a degree as seniors. I hope you're a freaking millionaire otherwise taking shots at P.E. teachers is pretty low.Quote:

When will they start determining RPI? When you can't field a team due to academic ineligibility. I'm not nieve at all. They are here because they are student athletes. Students first, athletes second. I'd rather have a team of intelligent young men who bust their balls and will win the right way in the future then a bunch of moron thugs that are putting Iowa State in the news for reasons other than sports. Our teams are teams we can be proud of. That can't be said everywhere.

I was just so frustrated. They were up by 11 points, and then from there it was just downhill. I love BF, I love ISU WBB, but I would think that we would have enough credibility to recruit some more athletic players.
They played tougher at Oklahoma then they played yesterday.
The point is that they are not professional athletes. They are not just here for our entertainment, they are here for an education. We should never attack players who are doing well at school. If there is a problem with the way they play, discuss it, but don't make comments to the effect that they should focus more on basketball and less on their education. For most of them, they will be done with basketball after college, then what?Quote:

If we would have won, there would have been a good shot at finishing second in the big 12, now that is unlikely.
