Veishea '09
Maybe if I read the paper I would know more, but I haven't heard anything about Veishea this year. Anyone know what bands they have, or how they are changing it this year.

Re: Veishea '09
Good question. What is the date that Veishea starts this year?

Re: Veishea '09
I about had a heart attack after Google brought up a page with the headline "Veishea 2009" that referenced wristbands. A closer look revealed that it was just the page from last year with the new header at the top, but it still gave me a good scare.
I haven't heard about any policy or band announcements yet, but I'm guessing we will over the next couple of weeks. The good news is that the field they converted to an internment camp for the concerts last year has a 30 foot deep hole in it now, so hopefully they'll move it back onto central campus. I also hope they learned their lesson from last year and get some goods bands and don't try to pull a stunt like limited acccess again.

Re: Veishea '09
There was an article about it in the Daily a few weeks back. Mentioned that there will still be wristbands, but they've changed the policy on them....and then they proceeded to NOT discuss what the new policy would be.
It's the week of April 12-18, and the Spring Game is on the 18th!

Re: Veishea '09
I have looked a couple times on the website and I don't think anything is up. Last year it was in January when people started hearing stuff. http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...band-back.html (Veishea books Eve 6 for concert. The 90s called, they want their crappy band back) Step 1: Cut a hole in the box. -

I'll have a booth showing off my senior design stuff if they let me have a cooler with me.

I also hope they learned their lesson from last year and get some goods bands and don't try to pull a stunt like limited access again. That was the worst spot for a concert. Nobody liked it. It was too close to the residential neighborhoods, it was a muddy slimy mess (like that field is every year).
I'm glad they learned their lesson about moving it up too early in the year. Hopefully they can move it back to central campus or put the concert where the Freeman hall concert is- at least it won't be muddy there.
The reason it was so bad last year was because a few people got scared at the Mike Jones concert in '07. They thought the crowed was getting out of hand and started worrying about riots. So instead of making some minor adjustments, they went overboard in '08.
The funny thing is, it wasn't necessarily the police departments that got scared- it was the Veishea committee. They could of just hired some rent-a-cops (something they didn't do in '07) and things would have been fine. Instead, they hired rent-a-cops, secured the area around the stage and required wistbands, moved the date up, and moved the location, all this because some people got scared.

VEISHEA sadly is a shadow of it's former self.

Battle of the Bands headliner is Trapt.
Cartel is headlining Live at VEISHEA.
Just read it on the Daily's website. Don't bother going there though because this post has 3x as many words as their "announcement." (So far.)

Cartel will be alright.
And Straylight Run, another band, has some good songs.
Not an awesome line-up, but not a bad one. The wristband policy sucks...
