Re: Pete Taylor
Grew up sitting around the radio with my dad listening to Pete and Eric. Thanks for posting this, it brought back some great memories to an otherwise dismal winter........

Re: Pete Taylor
Honestly...I think that if they want to honor those who best represented CYCLONE athletics is to just put up something similar to Mount Rushmore (like they were doing on ESPN with all the states) and have 'OUR CYCLONES' on there. I wouldn't limit this to just the busts of such, but much like Jack Trice who honors and welcomes anyone visiting the The Jack on gameday and beyond. I'd say put it somewhere between Hilton and The Jack so people can come from miles around to pay homage to 'OUR GREAT CYCLONES' Pete Taylor should be the first...IN MY OPINION!
Just a thought...anyone open for discussion on this?

Re: Pete Taylor
That's a good listen. Thanks for putting that up.

Re: Pete Taylor
Cael Sanderson?
Clyde Williams?
Cy?
Dan Gable?
I would not limit this to just four individuals...History Past & Present should all be present. Of course, we should let the fans vote on whom would be honored there.

Re: Pete Taylor
someone should take the time to write JP and ask him if this idea has been approached... 'Pete Taylor Pressbox' -
Re: Pete Taylor
I would think if we flooded JP w/emails regarding naming something after Pete, he'd probably consider it.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -
Re: Pete Taylor
Does anyone know if Jamie Pollard visits CycloneFanatic.com?
If not...he really should!

Edit: I should say there are people in the AD who are well aware of what happens here. Couldn't say what or how much gets to JP's ears. But I imagine a certain amount does.

Re: Pete Taylor
So he does hear the 'voices of the fans'?!?
I think that the challenge is out Mr. Pollard. What are you going to do about it? The ball is in your court... Cyclone fan since 1964 and proud of it! -
Re: Pete Taylor
I can't even put into words what Pete Taylor meant to me and cyclone sports. The two were one as far as I was concerned, from the time that I was old enough to ride in the corner of the combine cab or the tractor, Saturday afternoon listening to the cyclones .
It is hard to even type this, the tribute was awesome, I hadn't heard Pete's voice in a long time. He had the ability to keep me listening no matter how bad we were doing, and nobody got me as excited when we were doing well.
I listened to Pete call games for Duncan, Criner, Walden, McCarney, Orr, Floyd, Eustachy.
By the time I was old enough to actually run the equipment, the radio stations may have changed from what dad listened too most of the time, but on saturday afternoons the radio was tuned into Pete Taylor and the Cyclones.
Two favorite teams, the Cyclones, and whoever is playing the Hawkeyes! -
Re: Pete Taylor
I believe he has said there has to be a certain amount of time after someone passes til they can do this.
But I wholeheartedly agree, name the press box or something in his honor. That man was the best Cyclone of em all.

Regardless if there is some X years notion in place, I hope they do it soon enough so that his wife and children can rightfully enjoy it.
