Standardized Testing for Fans
As some colleagues and I were talking around the water cooler today (literally), the question popped up about who loved the cyclones more. Here's what I want to create: A list of objective stats/data points that will point out which one of us loves the cyclones more.
These points should be able to be argued as being completely objective, and having no subjective influence to them about the love of ISU and their sports teams.
For example, we came up with a couple:
1. Raised out of state > Raised in eastern Iowa > Raised in western Iowa > Raised in central Iowa. (Points from 4 - 1 on this scale).
2. Being born an ISU fan > becoming an ISU fan > not an ISU fan(rationale: never had love for someone else) (Points are 3,2, and 1 on this scale).
What else you got?

why do you get points for not living in the state

What else you got? This looks backwards. If you were born into an ISU family, you didn't make the choice. If you become an ISU fan, you decided who you like. I'd give more points to someone for putting one of Jamie Pollard's "I Choose ISU" signs in their yard than someone who's parents were fans.

The reasoning was that the favored school was never doubted or split with another school. If it's the only one ever, there's never the possibility of "longing for lost loves;" in this case, an old favorite.

Re: Standardized Testing for Fans
As it appears to have been missed, the objective here was to gain more data points (or guidelines) for this test. Is there anything else you guys have? I know there should be a way to weight Players vs. Fans vs. Mascots, but I don't know how to do it, or split it up. Or possibly even ticket holders vs. watches games religiously vs. watches some sports vs. only sport x fans.

Re: Standardized Testing for Fans
I'm normally a big fan 62, but this is pretty lame.
If someone is an Oklahoma or Florida fan, go ahead and rank them. If they're still an ISU fan after ... well, everything since I've been alive anyway, more power to 'em.
Its a flat line grading scale at an A

Are you sure you were not at a bar when you came up with this?

You have to prepare your fan resume and it goes through a board who says how big of a fan you are -

Cyclone fans all get A+
If you were a hawkeye/husker/panther/etc., found out about Iowa State, and became a Cyclone: A+++
