Don't know; IDOT website still shows old logo.

not sure ... but there is someone in Cedar Rapids with Wartburg plates ... It's truely bizare looking with a completely orange plate. I was unaware they issued those. I damn near rear-ended them trying to figure out what it was.

I was unaware that Wartburg got personalized plates as well . . .

Apparently you can get them for Upper Iowa and St. Ambrose as well.

well ... Upper Iowa is a University. so of course they would ... I'm pretty sure Wartburg is still just a college.

(little dig at my brothers alma mater)

Also, Upper Iowa has got to be in the smallest town in the world for a University. I had to ref a game up there and over shot my turn in both directions because it didn't seem like it was even a town.

props to them though, its not everyone that has two giant metal peacocks (peafowl?) in their front lawn. That my friend is a photo opportunity not to be wasted.

We played baseball up there on several occasions when I was in high school, the campus is pretty much half the town.

I'm not sure I could handle going to school in a small town like that where there isn't much to do. . .

Waverly is o.k. at least they have Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

The only difference between a college and a university is that to be called a university you must offer graduate level courses. Some schools that call themselves colleges offer graduate level courses, too, such as Boston College.

BTW, Upper Iowa is an absolute joke, and the only reason they are alive is because of their adult education courses in WDM. They were booted from the Iowa Conference because they are so weak academically and couldn't keep enough athletes to compete in all sports...same thing happened to William Penn.

I wish I could still have ISU plates. I always did when I lived in iowa, and for about 4 years in Michigan, but I think I'm getting a little old to register my car to my parents house.

What exactly is the man card cut off for doing such things. Is it when you buy a house, when you are 35, when you get married?

dude ... they're D2 now. They didn't "get booted", they moved up.

I believe the distinction between a college and a university is that "college" is singular - in that they are a liberal arts "college". University means you offer at least 2 "colleges".

Also, how awesome is their mascot? and to go the extra mile by making the school color powder blue? someone was having a great time drinking while they came up with that. I'll give them props where its deserved.

Sort of funny, that's the same complaint people from urban areas have with Iowa State.

I'm tempted to get the wartburg plates becasue they are so unique, even though I have no affliation with Wartburg.

I'm surprised the DOT has aprroved them w/ the bright orange you can hardly pick out the letter/numbers on the plate.

I believe you are correct.The person that said we're a joke should readjust their glasses. 20+ years ago the university was in a lot of trouble financially, but now UIU gets a lot of students on academic scholarships (myself included) that practically make going to a private school even more affordable than community college.

UIU has centers in Waterloo, Ankeny, West Des Moines, Milwaukee, Madison, Rockford, Cedar Rapids, several military sites, an online program and centers overseas in Hong Kong.

Now the university is D2 - the only one in Iowa and there are plans for several new buildings including a new E-Center and student suite style living.

Fayette is not exactly the most exciting town in the world, but the students make it a blast during the school year! Waterloo isn't that far to get away either. Trust me, we have a good time here
