Successful FB at the expense of MBB?

I realize this would never happen, but I'm curious as to people's opinion. This would help identify if ISU is trending towards a "FB school" as well.

The question is:

Would you support eliminating the MBB program at ISU if you knew ISU could have a Top 15 FB program every year in exchange?

Eliminate or just not be good year in and year out? I doubt anyone would be willing to cut it for the sake of one good sport.

I'd cut football to be good at basketball. I think there's a better chance of us being a top basketball team than a top football team.

Looks like this is going to be a runaway. If there ever came a day where someone decided it would be a good idea to do away with the MBB I think there would be mass revolt.

Name one powerhouse football school that also doesn't have a good to great basketball program. This is a pointless question.

Being devil's advocate, a healthy football program is more important to a big school than a healthy men's basketball program.

That isn't an option. Without the football revenue, the basketball team would be awful. I think there are only a small handful of schools that can survive off of just basketball. Duke comes to mind. I know Duke has a football team, but does anyone even show up?

Neb would come to mind. (given they have not been a powerhouse as of late)

Also our friends to the east would tell you that they are a powerhouse.

I wouldn't want to cut the program, but I would be just fine with the option of the basketball team never being better than they were this year and have a football team that is a top 15 program.

I'd be willing to sacrifice the baseball team for a couple minor bowl games. What? We already did that?

I'd be willing to sacrifice the wrestling and women's bb to relive the success of the Floyd era.

I know it's a silly question, but wanted to see how important a nat'l recognized winning FB program is to all of you.

Would you sacrifice MBB to achieve it? By sacrifice, I mean no MBB program at ISU (yes I know this would never happen).

I'd do the opposite and sacrifice the FB team if we could consistently have a top 15 MBB team.

I would argue that it's very tough to have both football and basketball do well at the D1 level. The majority of institutions are either a power house in one and not both.

I wouldn't have a problem seeing the men's basketball program go away if it means football contends for BCS games. ISU MBB has become hard to watch the last few years.
