Pollard has done many good things and I've never disputed that. He has also made some moves that have turned out to not be good. 3 years ago was a good move. Today showed to me, something between he (and/or his admin) and Cael failed.
You just can't hold JP blameless in all this, it's impossible. He's running the ship. He's said himself (paraphrasing) that it's his responsibility to improve the program. It's not happening.
You can toss hindsight out there all you want, at the end of the day, we can't maintain any sort of continuity. Before it was just with struggling programs. But now, we lost a coach (and legendary alum) from a very successful program.
It's just not good - period. QFT

Why would any coach or player want to stay at a school where the fan base constantly complains that they've got the worst luck, that a black cloud hangs over them, that they're never going to get any better? Why would anyone want to stay at a place where their best efforts keep getting poo-poo'ed? If anyone wants to blame JP, that's fine - he has some culpability. But so does every single naysayer.

Complain that you have no control as to why the onions won't make lemonade.
Is that close?

And we're back to somehow putting it on the fans. The fans are not the problem. Fans are donating in record numbers. Fans are still showing up (for now). Fans are still passionate. If the fans were a problem, the board today would be quiet. People still care.
Some of us are just not happy...and rightfully so.
And for whatever reason, I'll still be donating and still be getting FB tickets this fall and most likely still be getting hoops tickets. The Cyclones are like some sick cross between nicotine and crack. I need a cure.

ISU is entertaining no one, except for our rivals or those reading the headlines as we continue to flounder about aimlessly.
It's just not good - period. You don't seem like a cynical guy to me. I played on winning teams and losing teams. Just because we lost, I did not give up on my teammates, myself or my coach. Having faith is part of athletics and life. I don't believe you really don't have faith in anyone. If that is the case, it's unfortunate.

Just so I can get one little thing straight - they were donating in those record numbers under the illustrious BVDV, right? Oh, wait...

Ketel These guys are not my teammates nor my coaches. They are employees and student athletes of the university I support.
I have some faith, it's just not blind "the sun will come up tomorrow" type of faith.

BVD sold nothing - few liked him and he was by far not a people person. He rode Gene Smith's coattails.
JP sold us that more money was needed to get better. He told us that with that, the university could move forward. He promised better days. Fans bought into that, we believe.
So far, not much has been delivered.
