You cut NO ONE the slack you cut JP.
Morgan, McCarney, Chizik, Cael: good ridance to them all and don't let the door hit em on the way out.
JP: excuses and more excuses. nothing ever sticks to that man.

But I still stand by my statements. Cael departing is just one of our problems...and I have not exactly been shy about noting I do have concerns for our current path before today. I don't think you are!

How many on here have ever posted on the wrestling thread? How many ever went to a wrestling meet? How many got a wrestling poster and put it up? It seems to me that for many, this is simply an opportunity to take a cheap shot at Pollard. I personlly think wrestling is a major sport at Iowa State, but I don't blame JP for Cael leaving.

JP: excuses and more excuses. nothing ever sticks to that man. Actually, not true. I was one of the few Danny Mac apologists on this board, and think the world of McDermott. I believe you support what you've got unless you find irrefutable, undeniable evidence that they have betrayed that trust and support.

Using your logic, to me it looks like nothing but a reason to deflect any and all blame away from our AD and somehow onto the fans.

3 straight conference championships has NEVER been accomplished at ISU until Cael
Douglas had NONE in 13 years.
we didn't even need the "these aren't his players" excuse (what I like to call 'the McDermott')
He's a very successful coach.

It's clear that revenue is essential to generate success. There is some amount of chicken-and-egg that goes on, though.
JP decided, and reasonably so, to start with a bit of chicken, and so far that chicken hasn't laid a lot of eggs. Is it the fault of the farmer that we got a bum chicken that won't lay eggs despite having a great pedigree, or is it just bad luck?
I think JP is more a victim of circumstances than a maker of his own destiny, and I think the facts, as we know them, support that postulation.

What he's pointing out is that most people don't follow wrestling, but are using this as a great excuse to go complaining away about something they probably wouldn't even notice on a normal day. That's not blaming fans for Cael leaving. He's just pointing out that wrestling normally hasn't been very significant to fans/posters in general.

Stars don't always (and actually rarely do) stay at the college they played at to coach. He was a great wrestler, now he's a coach at Penn State. Happens all the time, and it's a normal thing.

Player attrition doesn't count, seeing as how it has little to nothing to do with the AD.

Re: A week ago, 90% on this board didn't care about wrestling.
And maybe we should start including "voting power" around here for only those that actually show up to Cyclone events...I mean, since we're measuring the sports fan equivalent of our ***** and all.
I've tried very hard (and not doing well as the hours wear on) to stay on the issue here while others are just pointing back at those voicing our displeasure, as if it's the naysayers fault, no one cares about wrestling, etc.
