I think it is a cool idea but needs to say something different

"This may be The Hawkeye State...
But I am a CYCLONE!" or something around those lines

I think the point is, as I've defended plenty of times outside of Iowa "No, ISU is NOT the hawkeyes"

I've done that plenty too, but as has been stated, telling someone you aren't the Hawkeyes does not tell them that you are the Cyclones.

Find a shirt that says "Iowa State Cyclones" and people will start to learn

And in response to the guy with the shirt, I know you're trying to distinguish yourself from those bleeding black and gold, but I'd prefer a shirt that says "I bleed cardinal and gold" as opposed to one that says "I don't bleed black and gold"

I bought a t-shirt during a study abroad trip in Austria that says "No kangaroos in Austria?" with pictures of confused-looking hopping dairy cows. My first thought was "finally...someone else understands what it's like to live somewhere that's always confused with somewhere else."

When I show/tell people about the shirt, they either get it...or don't.

Probably the same thing with the "not a hawkeye" shirt. People aren't going to get it, so why confuse them more.
