That's great, I don't really care about iowa's decreasing budget. It is nice to see things going well for Iowa State financially and Jamie Pollard. He is an unbelievably likeable and smart man who has done wonders financially here. It sucks about how we aren't able to see more wins so far during his time as AD, but no one wants that to happen as much as he does. Hopefully money turns into construction which turns into victories which turns into more money. Repeat. Keep giving Cyclones.
Too bad we are not in the SEC. What did get per school for the ESPN Package? I think it was like 17 Million.
That is good news though...
Now lets win some games and get that budget to $55 Million.
And if Someone in Ankeny could find a way to donate $100 Million we would be pretty good to go. That would Finish Jack Trice and the Jacobson, Helpout Hilton and maybe start an olympic sports complex. Wouldn't that be nice.
Ok I would be happy with 25 Million. Please....
$100 Million donation from a single person? I'd say that's unheard outside of OK State. I think you should be happy with 25 million, but whatever happened to that Good News Bobcat???
where do we stand in the Big 12, athletic budget wise? I'm assuming at the bottom?
Probably still there (or darn close), but if we can surprise some people in football (and basketball) then we will be on our way up in the next few years, IMO. I know I will be donating when I graduate and get a job.
I would be okay getting more sponsorships like we have with Pioneer or the Iowa Corngrowers assocation. Yes, yes, I know they scream 'stereotypical Iowa' but ISU plays a large role in their success and it should be known.
For those of you who criticize and dislike Jamie Pollard, he has given us the opportunity to increase an athletic budget yet again. If you think he has nothing to do with this, then you are mistaken. He has done a fantastic job in getting us the resources to help us become more competitive. I hope he keeps this up and with success on the field/court/whatever, we should be able to compete.
I want to echo this. Let's compare Iowa State's budget of $43.3 million and Iowa's $65.6 million:
Iowa will get $19.8 million from the Big 10 while Iowa State only gets $7.4 million from the Big 12. Taking those away from the #s:
Iowa State - $35.9 million
Iowa - $45.8 million
Iowa State is less than $10 million behind Iowa even though Kinnick holds 40% more people than Jack Trice and has all of these "sellouts". That is pretty impressive.
I'm not sure what the budget looked like Pre-Jamie Pollard but I know the gap between Iowa State and Iowa was MUCH bigger.
