AMES, Iowa - Iowa State's Ashley Mass has been named Big 12 Defensive
Player of the Week for the first time this season. It marks the seventh
Big 12 award overall for Mass, who ties former gymnast Janet Anson for
the most in a career by an ISU female student-athlete.
Mass recorded a league-best 5.21 digs on the week as the Cyclones posted
a 3-1 record. She also had a pair of service aces and 11 assists. The
2008 Big 12 Libero of the Year registered a season-high 25 digs at No.
13 Minnesota. Mass chipped in 19 digs each against Northern Iowa and
George Washington.
I got confused - for a second I thought how the hell does a gymnast win one Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, let alone seven?
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
