Making a case to the Big 10
After the comments made by our commissioner, I officially want to join the Big 10. I'm tired of the way the Big 12 treats ISU, and pretty much any school not named Texas, Oklahoma, or Nebraska. Jamie needs to be talking to people in the Big 10. I know we can't offer them a lot of TV sets but we can offer them this:
1) a decent football program that will regularly be bowl eligible (especially in the Big 10)
2) a top notch wrestling program that would IMMEDIATELY make the Big 10 the most dominant conference in that sport.
3) a top notch volleyball program
4) one of the highest drawing women's basketball programs in the country.
5) A land grant university with a very strong academic reputation (this is a big deal in the Big 10)
I'm puking in my mouth at the thought, but the fact of the matter is that the Big 12 couldn't give two ***** about ISU, and it's so obvious. Also, the Big 10 isn't getting another team anytime soon. Notre Dame will stay independent forever, and why in their right mind would a team leave the Big East, where they have very good television coverage and an easier road to the BCS? We know Jamie can sell hope, but if he could sell ISU to the Big 10, it could do WONDERS for this university. In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -

No Population Base is why this won't happen :(
The only school in the Big12 North that would be a good fit for the Big10 is Mizzou.
Kansas City and St. Loius Markets. And if I were them I would be talking to them big time.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

That is all... When your sitting in a Loud basement DMARC on a bunch of Old Cisco Router boxes escorting a couple Contractors I can call it whatever I want.
On message boards I like to refer to the conferences as B10 and B12.

Re: Making a case to the Big 10
I agree mostly out of frustration because of the way we are treated by the Big XII. They must have forgotten who was part of the original Big 6...

Being in the Big 10 would be a very a good thing for ISU, and I challenge someone to show me why it wouldn't. I know there are alot of reasons why they wouldn't want us, but what would we stand to lose?

Re: Making a case to the Big 10
BETTER IDEA. Let's go independent! Or better still, start our own conference! Yeah that's the ticket.

Re: Making a case to the Big 10
I would love to see Iowa State join the Big 10 conference for two primary reasons:
1) Big Ten Network
2) Revenue sharing
I think it is disgusting that our conference is set up to support the largest programs.
Let the Big XII fill our spot with Colorado State.

Steve Deace said this best this morning...
B10 = NFL
B12 = MLB

Let the Big XII fill our spot with Colorado State. Or TCU. Then they can be half Texas schools, which is what they want anyways.

I think they see Chicago and Indianapolis with a lot of Ill and Purdue flavor. Which is wayyyyy more than ISU can provide. We can give them central iowa. And not all of it.

I'm completely fine with the switch and have been for a while, I now just fully support it.
