Re: "Choose your adventure" ISU commercials
I like it, and it is better than 90% of the run-of-the-mill admissions commercials out there.

Re: "Choose your adventure" ISU commercials
Given the fact that the state continues to cut funding, I would rather see them continue to use these ads instead of paying for a new marketing campaign.
Choose your adventure is not just a commercial, it is also on all of the admissions documentation and all other promotional materials for the university. Transitioning to a new admissions marketing campaign would be very expensive.

Re: "Choose your adventure" ISU commercials
Keep in mind that the majority of you are not in the target market that ISU is intending (high school sophomores and juniors). Attendance at ISU is at record levels, so I would say that they are effective. If you don't get it, maybe you're not supposed to.

I would say the number of students that even list it in their top 3-5 reasons is minimal.

It's more about exposure than picking a school. I'm guessing most out of state students don't really thing about going to ISU unless something prompts them to look into it. If the ad causes them to go to the website and research more about ISU, it has done its job.

If the ad causes them to go to the website and research more about ISU, it has done its job. This would be very true. ISU was a complete afterthought in my mind when I was looking at colleges. When I started looking at colleges I started at a college fair. From there i just picked up information from probably about 20 schools that I have heard of or looked good based on the information that they provided. After that, I began to really look at all of these schools closer and eliminating them from contention.
I'm sure there is a bias for people on this website because I'm sure most of you already knew you were going to ISU when the time to start looking for a college came. I was very open minded in picking a college and a lot of out of state students are probably no different. So advertising and selling the college becomes important and you need to do things that makes the university stick out.

Re: "Choose your adventure" ISU commercials
I actually like the commercials. Just young kids looking for what they want out of college and how ISU delivers. The whispering is well, different. But I don't mind it....like our school is the "best kept secret college" or something....so after a while, it was cool.
Thing I would change....the quesadilla part....that was stupid....and too quirkey. I realize they were trying to be funny....but that line struggled.
All in all, good commercials. ISU has one of it's top 5 freshman classes this school year I have heard.

I'm talking about iastate.edu, nothing to do with athletics.

Ours is way too cluttered with text and visually blah.
