Interesting Weather-Related Tidbit on No. 13 ISU Gymnastics Team
PITTSBURGH, Penn.—Following its meet at Pittsburgh, the No. 13 Iowa State gymnastics team was literally stranded on the road all night due to the incredible amount of snowfall in Pittsburgh.
After a team dinner, the Cyclones took eight hours to arrive back at its hotel, a trip that normally would have taken 15 minutes. Due to a standstill on the interstate, blocked roads and conditions that forced the team bus to stop, the Cyclones spent the night on their charter bus.
Head coach Jay Ronayne had access to a four-wheel drive vehicle and was forced to make trips to the stranded team bus and shuttle members of the ISU gymnastics team back to the team hotel.
The final group of Cyclones did not reach the team hotel until 7:30 a.m.
