How much would it cost...
to resurrect the baseball program at Iowa State? I was just curious if anybody had any insight as to how much it cost to run the program from year to year and what the costs would be if the program was given a 10 year run. I am embarassed and think it is completely Un-American not to have a baseball team at one of the best universities in the U.S.

Re: How much would it cost...
Who would buy the tickets? Is anyone even around for games? I think this why they are not profitable. Im not saying I wouldnt love to have it back..but there is a reason it failed. If it came back I would go to a few games for sure.

Re: How much would it cost...
I think the biggest problem might be that you would have to resurrect the baseball program AND add another women's program for Title IX.

More than it's worth, that's for sure.

Does Ames have a decent stadium for Baseball?
Where would they play?

Re: How much would it cost...
I'd rather see them add hockey, personally, but baseball would be more of a "Big 12 sport" I suppose. That baseball field isn't in the greatest of shape though, is it?

Baseball isn't a huge money maker but it would be great to see you all bring it back.
From the pictures in the link posted above it looks like you all would have a pretty nice facility if you built some stands, lights, and fixed it back up.
Here are the other current stadiums in the Big 12 Baylor - Baylor Ballpark - Capacity (5,000) Kansas - Hoglund Ballpark - Capacity (2,500) Kansas State - Tointon Family Stadium (2,331) Missouri - Taylor Stadium - Capacity (3,000) but adding 600 Nebraska - Haymarket Park - Capacity (8,500) Oklahoma - L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park - Capacity (2,700) Oklahoma State - Allie P. Reynolds Stadium - (3,821) Texas - UFCU Disch–Falk Field - Capacity (6,649) Texas A&M - Olsen Field - Capacity (7,053) Texas Tech - Dan Law Field - Capacity (5,050) -

Re: How much would it cost...
Honestly, it would probably cost only about $240,000 and an act of God.
