KOLL WINS WEST REGIONAL 5,000 METERS
AUSTIN, Texas – Iowa State senior Lisa Koll’s first-place finish in the 5,000-meter race of the NCAA West Regional Saturday (16:28.58) earned her a spot in the NCAA Championships June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. ISU junior Semehar Tesfaye also earned a spot in the national championship (16:42.27), finishing in 12th place. Koll and Tesfaye had already qualified for the national championships in the 10,000 meters.
Iowa State senior Brandon Rooney finished 11th overall in the men’s 1,500-meter run (3:40.62), earning him a trip to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Senior Lashawn Wright finished 11th overall in the women’s 200-meter dash (23.63), also earning a trip to the national championships. Wright finished fifth in the second-heat of the 200-meter dash, earning a personal best time.
