Central Iowa media have just been appalling

in covering this story. Seriously, has one local media member - one! - made a case for why ISU shouldn't be left for dead?

And no, Jon Miller's attempt on Hawkeye Nation to walk back his utter condescension from this morning doesn't count. It's clear from listening to his repeated on-air orgasms for the last six months where he stands on this. Too little, too late.

At best, ISU has been met with indifference from the local media. At worst - and most of the time it has been - it's been downright mockery. The only positive thing I've seen has come from the Cedar Rapids freaking Gazette.

Pathetic. I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was this bad.

Like I said, I knew we were the red-headed stepchild but this has been something else. Nobody's even lifted a finger on our behalf.

Somebody else mentioned it, what do you think they will say if we can't pay our bills and the state has to step in? I would assume the facility improvements at JTS are still being paid for and there is an interest requirement?

How about anything. There has been next to nothing and it's pathetic. I'm living in the Twin Cities and I check the Register almost every day for ISU stories. I didn't even know about this Big 12 breakup talk until a story coincidently popped up in my Google News feed last week. The Iowa coverage has been PATHETIC!

They should be making the case as to why this is bad for everybody in Iowa. Yes, even Iowa fans. We're talking about the continued slide of population away from our state. Do you not believe that, or are you just now starting to get it? I think I heard you say, within the last couple of days, that all you want is to see Iowa play Notre Dame. Really? Is that as far as your mind really goes??

This is such a stunningly ignorant question I don't even know how to respond. I guess I shouldn't be surprised than an Iowa fan can't fully appreciate the role the media plays in shaping public perception, because Iowa fans have never known anything but a fawning media from all parts of the state.

There has been next to nothing because nobody at ISU is talking. What do you want, a daily presser from Jamie Pollard stating the same thing over and over again, editorials in the DM RAG about how ISU should get to join the B10? Believe me, I read the RAG everyday, if it turned into an endorsement for ISU being admitted to the B10, the Iowa fans would go crazy. If you want attention in the media, you have to do something to garner attention, and to this point other than the e-mail from JP/GG there really isn't much to talk about other than the same things everyone else is talking about.

Oh well... just when ISU was becoming self sufficient... now Jon's taxes will have to be raised to support ISU athletics again. Yippeee!!

How about an analysis of how the STATE would be negatively affected if ISU is relegated to a lower conference? You don't have to "lobby" for anything, you just have to do your ******* job.
