Actually, it's no joke - they're something like rated the #35 academic university in the US and top 100 in the world, according to a post on this site yesterday.

I know CU is a good school but the irony of the Pac10 accepting CU just after their academic penalties.

DENVER – The University of Colorado at Boulder remains among the nation’s top public universities for undergraduates—ranking 34th overall—according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2009 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.”

CU-Boulder is the highest-ranked Colorado university overall in this year’s annual U.S. News survey, improving over last year’s 35th standing among public national universities.
The undergraduate program at the CU-Boulder College of Engineering and Applied Science is tied this year for 35th among all public and private universities whose highest degree is a doctorate, and shares the ranking with the University of California, Davis and the University of California, Santa Barbara. CU-Boulder is tied at 22nd among public universities offering doctoral engineering degrees.

CU-Boulder’s Leeds School of Business undergraduate program is tied for 35th nationally among all public and private universities, moving up from a tie for 41st last year and sharing the ranking with Brigham Young University, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Iowa. Among public universities offering doctoral business degrees, CU-Boulder also is tied at 22nd.

Yeah, I didn't read that article until after I posted. I only remember seeing the report on ESPN last night that listed Colorado and Syracuse as DI schools that didn't meet the APR standards - whoops!
