So I hear some chuckling from some Hake fans because if we wanted a conference championship, now we have to beat Texas and Oklahoma....Do they think that they play in the Sun Belt or something?? No offense to the Sun Belt of course. It just never ends with these Hawk fans.

It's funny though, because I think the Big XII adds two more teams before all is said and done, so there will be a conference championship.

It's harder to win a conference championship when you have to play a championship game.... especially when you don't have to play all the teams in your conference... like Iowa currently does.

ISU always would have had to beat TX or OU to win a conference championship. Iowa can win the Big 10 without having to play Ohio St at all.

do you blame them? we havent won a big 12 north title to where we played in the Big12 title game. play on the field says more than anything and we haven't done that. we have had a couple opportunities but choked. so yes, if we didn't have a title game it would be much tougher.

I don't get why everyone thinks our schedule is sooo much harder. We basically dropped Nebraska for Baylor and Colorado for Texas A&M, then a 3rd school (so, this year it would be Utah) for Okie State. I don't see that as much worse.

As for never going bowling again, I don't see that arguement either. If you could OU and Texas as auto losses every year, we need to get out of non-conference at 2-1, then beat 4 of these teams:
KState
KU
Baylor
Okie State
Texas Tech
Texas A&M
Missouri
That isn't impossible by any means. Heck, in a given year we should be "on par" with KState, KU, and Baylor. That literally equates to us beating Iowa to get 3-0, or beating Mizzou or OSU to get the 6th win. That is far from impossible...

They will have to beat Nebraska each year to get to the conference title game. That is what happens with the Big Red. They are always in the way.

Iowa will probably have to beat Nebraska and Wisky just to get to the Big 10 Championship game against Ohio State.

Some years, Iowa will have to play Nebraska, Wisky, Ohio St, and Penn St just to get to the championship game... in which they will get to play Ohio St for a second time.

I think winning a conference championship just got tougher for both Iowa and ISU.
