Pollard Statement: Press Conference @ 5:30

I've been told that Iowa State will hold a press conference this evening at 5:30 and that it will be shown live via Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports.

First question HAS TO BE about the buyout money. I'm still in absolute shock that this is how it's going down.

Did Beebe have any explanation as to why 3 schools deserve all the money?

1) Beebe said that the 5 schools offered to give all of the penalty money to the three schools to keep the conference together.

2) Beebe said that the three schools appreciated the offer, but that the penalty money wasn't the primary concern regarding the conference.

3) He didn't say whether any offer was accepted.

part of me wants the Fuskers and Buffs to pay the money, but another part wants them to avoid paying the money.

I fully expect Pollard to clear the air on this subject tonight. Also hopefully on how the TV deal won't take place right away because of contracting and prior agreements

I think most of us would like some clarification on whether or not the forfeiture of the money is true.

If that's true, and if Pollard confirms that, it will not help his plea for fans increasing their financial support, at least not mine. ISU must be doing fine if they can so easily give millions of $$ away.

Well if they didn't offer and Texas walked ISU would be far worse!!!

Pollard had to ask the question, is this the best option for Iowa State? We trust him to make those decisions. At the end of this drama would UNLV or Colorado State or some middle of the road big east team trade places with us? My guess would be yes.
