Actually liked the BIG East alternative better
It's my understanding that KU, KSU, MU and ISU had a done deal to the Big East if the south went Pac-Ten. Maybe it's a case of buyers remorse but I really wish we would have gone east and out from under this texas rule. It will likely haunt us for years to come

Re: Actually liked the BIG East alternative better
There was no done deal.
The PAC10 was on their way to visit Kansas right after they left Texas.
Texas said they were staying put as well as the rest of the south, so the PAC10 cancelled their flight to Kansas City.
I sincerely doubt that the Big East deal would have existed if the rest of the Big12 was sticking around and it was nowhere near a done deal, especially if KU wasn't going with us.

I have supported Pollard 100%, but this deal here is bull ****, as we sit around and watch the like of Indiana and Illinios, who cant win in the non conference, make 22 million, we have to worry about leaving lights on in the administration building. Too many options unexplored out there.

Re: Actually liked the BIG East alternative better
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe rebecacy has had some connections within the athletic department in the past.
So, there could be something here.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

And does it spend differently than Midwestern money? Or West Coast money?

It will likely haunt us for years to come I've heard similarly, and if the money would have had the potential to be anywhere close, (and the rumors on the boards seem to think so) we should have bolted. Close on the money, a conference we are more likely to compete in, access to major Northeast media markets, and of course freedom from the Texas monster. I just hope when this thing tries to collapse again that we have the good fortune to have a landing spot as good as what it looks like we had in the Big East.
Texas staying in the Big 12 saved us alright, it saved us from a brighter future.

Right now they have a football div and them the hugh basketball div. Unless we were getting BIG BUCKS staying where we are is better than taking a chance on going to the big east which IMHO will collaspe in the next couple years. Then we are in limbo again.

would we be kissing *** in that conference, no.

Re: Actually liked the BIG East alternative better
So, the Big 12 South 5 split for whatever conferences, and the 16-team superconference ball is rolling. Then the Big 12 North 5 go to the Big East, which then gets subsequently raided by the ACC/Big Ten/SEC as the 16-team superconference thing snowballs down the hill.
