Could an ISU Network start on Hulu?
Hulu seems to me like the most logical way to get money for ISU. Hulu is becoming a very popular site, and the Big 10 has signed a deal with them as well. Why doesn't ISU start it's own channel on Hulu and be the first college football team to air live games on it as well? I also believe that Hulu is expanding it's market to PS3 and 360 a lot like Netflix. Is this possible and profitable?

Profitable? I highly doubt it, or everyone would be doing it already.

The profitability depends on how much it would cost to run the camera's and the crew. I'm sure theres a lot more to it than what most people think.

They already are able to do it through Clone Zone. The Hulu alternative would be paid through commercials while the Clone Zone is paid by subscription.

Re: Could an ISU Network start on Hulu?
There is virtually no way for ISU to put an "ISU Network" for TV together that would be profitable. If anything, Clone Zone needs to be expanded, and even then, there aren't really enough Iowa State fans to make that worth the money. Texas has their giant state, a TON of fans, more sports, and the ability to put it on television, and they still are only thinking $4,000,000 to $5,000,000 dollars per year. You pretty much lose all of the football games because real TV picks them up, and you lose basketball games against real teams because TV picks them up. People don't want to watch softball, soccer, swimming and diving, and track and field on CloneZone.

Simply using Hulu as a broadcast medium won't magically allow Iowa State to stream more live football games. It's not like they're able to show all these games and simply choose not to. They are prevented from doing so by the Big 12 television agreement.

If I'm not mistaken, the new television agreement for the Big 12-2 was the ability to create your own network and be able to show the games that TV can't pick up. That's why Texas stayed.
