Re: Best College Football Game Ever?
I'm going w/ a game I saw in person and that has to be the Iowa St. vs FSU game down in Arrowhead. Yeah we lost (only because of no instant replay), but that game was fantastic.

2005 Texas over USC for the national title.

Re: Best College Football Game Ever?
Texas vs USC in the rose... that 4th quarter was so much fun! Especially since it was a national championship.

Nebraska/Miami, Orange Bowl, 1984. Miami jumped all over Nebraska early, Nebraska rallied, and instead of kicking the game-tying PAT, with National Title pretty much in the bag with a tie, the honorable Tom Osborne elected to go for the win. Turner Gill's pass was deflected, and Miami was crowned champ.
Awesome game.

It's easily the Texas/USC Rose Bowl for me. Everything about it; the great players, 1 vs 2 playing for a national title, the Rose Bowl, two storied programs in Texas and USC...and just the fact that it was just a great game. The Vince Young game winning touchdown was unforgettable.

Oklahoma went 11-1 and demolished Auburn in the Sugar Bowl. I think those two finished number 1 and 2 in the nation. If I remember correctly, Colorado, 10-2, ended up #3. Iowa State only lost to those three and went 8-4, losing to LSU in the Sun Bowl. LSU was 9-3 for the season. For the national title, this one.
My fave ISU game has to be the 1972 Liberty Bowl that came down to a failed two-point conversion by inches as Amundsen attempted a QB draw. Most exciting game I ever listened on radio -- my parents wanted to watch something else on TV that night. That '72 season was an exciting one, even though the Cyclones won only five games along with tying a then top five NU team. Amundsen was great that year along with the whole d-line, IIRC.

USC/Texas 2005 was my personal favorite. A Clash of the Titans with the underdog prevailing in dramatic fashion.
Favorite ISU game: last year v. Nebraska
Best game of last year: Cincy v. Pitt. Down by 3 or 4 tds at half time, to be sparked by several kick returns for touchdowns in a driving snowstorm, to rally for the win.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -

Yes, BSU-Oklahoma is certainly top 5. I remember watching this game, couldn't hold my interest... but I was 5 at the time. To qualify are the best college game ever it must involve Tator Tot getting the snot knocked out of him

1971 Nebraska 35 - Oklahoma 31 in Norman...back when the Big 8 was absolutely loaded in FB.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: Best College Football Game Ever?
I'm amazed that it took two pages for someone to mention the Ohio State-Miami championship game. I've never been so on pins and needles in a game that I could care less about either of the teams playing.

I also think that '03 Fiesta Miami-Ohio State NC Game should be thrown in the mix even though Miami got insanely screwed in OT.
edit: after reading the wiki about the game and remembering more of it, I think this game was better than Texas-USC, and I hate to say that cause I hate Ohio State so much. Yes, the Miami-Ohio State NC game was way more intense and epic than the Texas-USC game. Maurice Clarrett was a man amongst children in that game.

Colorado went 10-2 that year and finished 3rd in the Nation, the only 2 losses coming to the #1 and #2 teams in the Country Nebraska and Oklahoma.
